Brad, we have 50 hours on the boat now. I have been having a blast, I will maybe get 2 more days in before I head to Montana for Elk season. I am starting to dial in all my stuff and packing for my trip, we have 2 weeks in Montana so it should be a blast! Thanks Z and brad for the advise I will look into the 147 size boards I think it will be easier for me then going smaller. Z what is length rope are you skiing at? I am at 15 off and find myself into the wash of the boat a bit? Is this the case for you too? Its still a decent wake though........

is the size difference really noticable from a 144-a 147?

So I guess a 145 versus a 147 are about the same then. Cool that opens up my selection a bit more. So how about bindings? Do you guys recommend buying a closed toe binding and spending a little extra cash?

I have 07 Hyp Murray's Closed Toes.. love them.. They are in more fitted sizes so you can't share the board with anyone who is not your size.. and I have NOT come out of them yet..
The -08 closeout deals are starting to flow right now.
Check out Evogear.com , wakeside.com , buywake.com , boardersmall.com etc.
boardersbestbuy.com has 08 Murrays for $180.. Deal ends tonight at 11 CST.

I think I will wait til the season is over and try and score a deal at one of the shows or through a site. Are the murry boots a really good boot? Is it worth 180.00 to buy them?

Yeah, and 1/2 of that is out of the water in the front. I am about 250-260 lbs, and I ride a Motive 144. I bought a CWB Faction 144, and I really don't care for it because it feels slippery to me. I'm sure I'd get used to it if I rode it more, and it's probably a better board. I just love the feel of my Motive.

I have been looking at the CWB boards and wondering if they were any good.

I have been looking at the CWB boards and wondering if they were any good.

My buddy just bought an 08 CWB Faction and put his hinge techs on it. I rode it this weekend and it was a great board even in the chop. Only thing that was a little strange is that it was WIDE. I rode it for about 3-4 minutes and then pulled a backroll on it without any effort. It is a really nice board, but I still prefer my O'brien Natural. But for the money he paid for it I would get over it....great deal on boardersbestbuy on the CWB.

i have a natural (139), and i think they make a 144. i've riden 3 different obrien boards (valhalla, natural, and player) and loved them all, but liked the natural best, followed by the vahalla. i rode a ronix vault and thought it sucked. i've also ridden a lf fish, which was fun, but i didn't like the short & fat body - ride was rough and grabbed too much edge despite having huge pop.

when considering length of a board also consider the width. two 144's may ride totally different if one is wider than the other. obrien usually gives the length and width of all their boards on the site. the fish for example recommends you pick the size that is closest to 10cm shorter than you normally ride because of the extra inch wide it is.

I ride the CWB Faction 144 with Faction bindings. I love the setup. The board has a great feel to it. It's got a really good, consistent pop, very soft landings, it breaks loose when I want it to, and has a very strong edge to it. When you set the edge, it picks up speed fast. It's a fun board. It's forgiving enough for beginners, but loose enough to really teach you propper board control. Some of the more advanced guys I ride with say it's not loose enough for them, but the smaller Marius fins from CWB can fix that up. Oh, and CWB has the best customer service in the industry.

Go to your local shop and pick up a couple of boards to demo, that way you can have a direct comparrison. You will immediately be able to tell what you like and don't like.
