no air outa the tires-it just barely touch's the flap at the top. i just hope the double axle trailer fits as good.

yes we will be keeping a eye on it, before coming on the boards it looked to have moved a little east. you know how these storms are-never can tell till the last minute.

it could put some water in your lakes---how about a photo of your dock before and after?

I wish I was that lucky. I need to let 30lbs out of the tires so that it can fit in the garage. When everything is finished, I have to refill the tires to 50lbs again.

Why not just put a receiver on the truck with more drop?

moombadaze
08-16-2008, 09:32 PM
No need for more drop on the receiver-it fits. I can use the truck to back it in. Just wanted to show how close you can be and still get in a garage. When i pull the boat out i air up the rear air bags so i sit level.

Wow, Talk about right size fit. Guess you should be happy the contractor was not an inch off when they installed the beam.

I don't know how you guys can squeeze your boats in & out of a garage every weekend. I'd be sweating bullets every time and my wife would be so stressed it would probably ruin the day!

My garage isn't deep enough for the lsv, If the wakeplate and the cylinders swung down it would fit, I thought about cutting a hole in the wall for it but my wife wouldn't have appreciated that much. So I went to harbor frieght and bought a portable garage and raised it up 8 extra inches with 4 8x8 posts and now I just roll the boat right in with the tower up.

Yes i was a little nervous when i backed up the first time and saw how close it really was, If it goes in it will come back ut no problem, but after a couple times its no big deal as long as im on the trailer straght it wont get any taller.-actually the very 1st time the boat was empty of all the stuff i keep in it and empty on gas too.

Wolfeman, we do what we have to do. I have to remove my platform and fold up the tower every time just to get it in there. I'm OK height-wise, but lengthwise it fits by about 3/4 of an inch. Of course, I'd cut a hole in the wall or in the garage door if I had to.

RBC,
How does that hold up in high winds? Looks pretty dang handy!
I have a steep drive and the garage is not deep enough so I have no other option right now other than paying $ to store at a covered boat storage..

I would LOVE to not be paying for storage!

Moombadaze, excellent job of putting the boat in a safe place!!! During the summer, my boat stays in a dry storage that is a 40' X 15' stall on a row with about 15 other boats all seperated by walls so nobody can "bump" my boat! During the winter, my dad uses the slot and I bring mine home to store it in the house. The only problem is that I have a steep driveway with a 16' dropoff and a 90 degree entry into the garage. Oh, did I mention the 10' X15' room that "used" to be in the basement!!!! One small remodel later and my engineer buddy designing me a winch plate and my baby gets to hibernate in climate control all winter.

Garage before the moomba.

After the purchase of the moomba!

Winch bolted in floor. Prior to cleaning the garage.

Jack Knifing the boat before hooking up the winch and uncoupling the boat. Scariest part!!!

Jesse, that is extreme garage parking, love all the safety straps

Now that is a project. The first time must of been a fun day.

Jester, Yea, the first time we loaded it in there took about an hour and a half. Now we can align it and winch it in in about 30 minutes. Getting it out is just as interesting.

Moombadaze, that would have been my buddy pete's handy work with all of the safety straps. If the winch cable were to break and the fire truck chocks were to fail the safety straps are the last line of defense before the 16 foot dropoff to the neighbors house....talk about overkill.

Oh, I left the winch cable pic out.

That last pic's clears up how you attached the cable to the boat. Just think if your boat ended up in the neighbors house. They would have somthing to talk about for years.

We attach two 2500 lbs tow straps to each side of the trailer and then hook the winch cable to the two straps. If you look in the background, you can see that my neighbors roof is under my friends heads, and that should give you an idea of the dropoff that the boat is pointed towards!

Moombadaze,

Watch out for garage door opener to slip alittle. Happened to me last night. Only opened to 6'10'' and I clipped the trailer guide post. Lucky for me the boat was in the lift on the water. Pulled one of the door wheels off the track and bent bottom of the door(non insulated door). I was able to fix everything. There is an adjustment screw on the opener motor that will let you set door lift height. Needless to say I'll be more careful from now on.

ok we got our trailer tonight and it fits just as tight--maybe a little better, the double axle trailers have 14 wheels versus the single that had 16 wheels. one thing that makes a defference is the front axle is farther forward and can affect the brake over angle.
the boat actually looks like it sits a little lower now

Congrats! You're ready to road test it in a few weeks. Can't wait. We're headed to Hilton Head this w/e to see relatives. Sadly, we're leaving the boat in the garage. You know because of weather that means we haven't been on the water since the Tampa Jam. Pathetic.
