Outback prop size

I was out this last weekend for the second trip in my "new" '02 Outback. It has the 310 hp engine. With 6 ppl in the boat and me on one ski, I had a hell of a long pull to get up. I'd say the average weight of the passengers was around 160-170 (there were two girls and one really big guy). The current prop is a 13 X 11.5 and I have a dinged one that's a 13 x 13. What are the recommendations for hole shot?

I love my 14x14. Just make sure you get the ACME and not the OJ.

On the Direct Drive outback, 13x13 3 blade is standard and the upgrade/wake prop for that boat is 13x 11.5. On my '04, after dinging my 13x13, I got a 13 x11.5 OJ XMP.. better hole shot, a little less top end.

You should be able to get those fixed. Not sure where you are located, but any inboard boat dealers should be able to recommend a shop, or there are some shops online that you can ship to and they fix/return... Unless they are folded up...

How many hrs on the boat? My boat with 5 people rips me out of the water every time, in fact I had to have my wife easy up a bit as she was ripping my arms off and I ski a double high wrap. I have a 13 x 13.5 4 blade stainless, but actually prefered my 13x13 3 blade.

I just bought the boat used a few weeks ago. The guy said it had 300 hrs, but the clock said 167. It now says 173, so I know it's working. I think the guy just played it conservative.

It's definitely not ripping me out of the water on my ski. I weigh about 190 and I'm on a 69" Radar Senate with double boots.

Chris, @ your weight and that ski you should have had no problems. This is curious. Time to start experimenting. Obvious item is to try skiing with just a driver and a spotter and go from there. I'm assuming she runs good?

I haven't experienced any problems with how she's running. Again, there were 7 total people (6 in the boat and me skiing). I'd say the average weight was around 175.

It's not a horrible pull to get up, but not what I expected out of a 310 hp engine. I'm used to skiing behind a 165 I/O and the "new" Moomba wasn't a drastic improvement.

Could it be the driver, with these ski boats with all the low end ,the driver may be inconsistent with the pull. If they hammer it, it should rip you arms off, i had to have my driver ease off and give steady consistant acceleration. i have the OBV 07 (4 blade) and last year i was behind a four winns 195. night and day. i have a 69 Obrien and ring the bell at 200+. no problems once you get used to the pull.;)

You might try giving ACME a call, or Karl from boarditup.com (616-530-0442). I talked with both, and they were very helpful in getting me the right prop. In my case, it was for a heavily weighted older DD Outback, but the new prop made a world of difference.

Where are you located? If you're in the Colorado area, I know of a local shop with prices that are better than any you'll find online.

Chris a bit of a difference is I have the 325 EFI motor. Not sure how much of a differnce this would make but maybe some.

But if don't think your Outback with the same amount of people is just barely better than an IO there has to be something wrong. My buddies IO could never pull me straight up, it always had to be a side pull, same thing with my old OB. We both have Outbacks now and even loaded with people for a wakeboarding wake after my ski I get right up on my Double Highwraps, and I tip the scales at 190.

I have a 13x13 OJ stock on my 99 Mobius. Also running 310HP Carb. I can not hold on to the rope if I am pulled out full throttle. I am 5'10, 210 on a 68" Connelly Concept. I do start with one foot out but can't believe that is enough to make a difference...

I have pulled 8 people out of the water on 2 skis - mostly light weights - no problem.

I just checked the prop again. It's marked 13 X 11.5 VC OJ. I skiied today with just a driver and a spotter. It was an okay pull, but certainly not of the rope jerking caliber previously mentioned. Of note though -- the great wake with just 2 people in the boat! I think I may have done the best skiing of my life!

The engine isn't running rough and doesn't seem to have any other noticeable issues, just the power weakness. If it's not a prop issue, where would you start looking (e.g., carb, timing, etc.)? I was told that the ignition parts were changed last summer.

did your OBV come with the 14x14 or did you change. I was suprised to see my obv 07 has thye 13.7x17.5 xmp , not the usual numbers i see on the board. I knew it was an oj cnc wakeboard prop.
