I have a pair of outdoor bose 151's laying around the basement. Did not plan on adding tower speakers until next season. (new moomba and all, plus lake house projects) i saw this pic on the BB clasiified and pm and no response as to fit and sound quality.

I wanted to be creative with what I have. Any thoughts on sound quality and I would most likely need and amp( I believe they are 8 ohm Speakers as well.) Where could I get clamps to modify the bose bracket to fit the tower?
Or should I not waste my time and wait until next season and do it right, like many of the posts i have read here on some really cool systems.

Not sure on the sound quality out of those, but you could go ahead and mount them and wire them up. The wires would be ready for the "upgraded" speakers in the off season. I would put in an amp and run the speakers in parallel to create a 4 ohm load. Most quality amps are the most stable at 4 ohms. A good two channel amp that can be bridged into 4 ohms would be best and when you upgrade the speakers, just wire them normal instead of bridged. I would use "what I have" until money allows for "what you want". In the meantime, you could do some of the up front work and enjoy the Bose speakers now.

Crutchfield has some clamps that I have used in my installs of the tower speakers and the custom light bar I built. Check my signature for the links.

Thanks, Jesse They sound fine in the home or on the porch not sure 75' back. But mostly want so extra tunes hanging/floating outside the boat without making the crew inside deaf.

jesse, i searched crutchfeild and did not find clamps as I use crutchfeild all the time. I thought you used audioformz for the tower speakers.

please share the link if you remember, also diywake has some clamps accessories.

I did use audioformz that were custom ordered to not include the external wire hookups and the clamp they use is the one for the Bazooka tubbies for the tower. I purchased the same clamp from Crutchfield for my custom light bar I made.

BE CAREFUL: the smallest they go is 1 7/8" the tower on an outback is an 1 5/8", I had to make a special insert for mine.

Jesse, what did you make the insert out of.

Also, what is your thought on the Boardersbestbuy special on wake tower unloaded cans. seems like a good deal clamps included. load them next season or picku up some ones unwanted 6.5 kenwoods, lots of them on the board.

I have not heard anything about the ones on boardersbestbuy so I could not speak for or against them. Once you loaded them up, you would probably be around $250-$300. I really like the audioformz, but I wanted a fiberglass look that matched the top hull color, but if you are looking for the polished look, they would probably be fine. www.audioformz.com has some really good looking fiberglass ones and the do custom orders, just call them, super nive guys. I really like mine and do not plan on adding any more of them, the two are fine for my crew.

As to the inserts I bought some fernco fittings from Home Depot and cut them to fit. I asked the guys here on the board for some help, here is the thread with more suggestions: https://forum.moomba.com/showthread.php?t=4794

When I was designing my tower accessories, I knew I wanted a light bar as well and also wanted to use white to match the top hull color which was the reason I bought the audioformz. Just be sure to plan for future projects before drilling or installing anything. Will you add a light bar, how many speakers will eventually be on the tower, all things to consider.
