First is the stereo I've been working on for some time now.
3 Punch amps 1000.1, 500.2, and a 400.4
6 Kicker KS600's
2 Kicker L-5 10" subs
No deck, just HK drive and play to Clarion EQ to amps
3 Optimas under the observer seat
I haven't finished the baffle for the driver side sub yet but you'll get the point.

Anyone remember the hole I cut in the floor on the drivers side foot well? That was so a a 1.5 cube box fits and looks like under there.

I tried to hide everything I could, fuse blocks, breakers, batteries, wire, even the factory stuff. All the carpet is SC carpet matching to the boat.

Newty,

That looks good. How does the Sub sound that is under the bow seat?

It sounds good by its self, but when I added the 2nd sub it sounds great. Makes a big difference not having it closed up under the bow.
The girls like sitting in the bow even more now ;)

Newty,

Hahaha that is great. Guess i should install a Sub in the bow. Well that could also be a bad thing. Never good to have lots of eye candy in the bow. I also noticed your boat on PDXWake. Are you going to be at the AWS / SC event on the 19th?

Must be nice!

I spend enough money on my turbo mazda rx8. The wife would kill me if I started buying mods for my boat. lol

I wish I could, My good friends are getting married that afternoon.
Just my luck, everytime there is an event we always have something booked. Eventually we'll get to one.
Deaf, I have maybe $1300 in equipment. I am a craigslist fein! Half of that stuff is used. I was patient and found all matching stuff. My wife would kill me if I went out and bought all new stuff.
Funny, I may be Deaf Newty by the end of the summer.

Newty,

Very nice. I like how you hid all the wires to the amps - looks really clean.

Tell us about the handrail around the swim platform - did you just buy the handrail and install it yourself, or is the whole thing a Supra item and it fits the LSV perfectly?

Thanks,

Al

Very simple. SC swim steps are very similar if not identical (supra/Moomba). I just figured they would be close enough and I could fudge it if I had to.
I ordered it from my dealer and installed it my self. Measured and measured it again before I drilled it but it came out perfect.
The rail has 4 studs in the middle going through the swim step so you need nuts and washers. You need two bolts and washers for the ends. It came w/ no hardware but a quick trip to the hardware store and I was in buisness. The rail was $100 plus hardware. I love the look of it. Form and function as it were.
Great for teak surfing. Just kidding.

Nice! $100 is not bad considering that one of the small stainless grab handles is $20. This might have to be my next project. We spend a lot of time floating and swimming and it's nice to have the grab rails for my kids to grab onto.

Did you get the grab rail at Actice?

Thanks for the idea!

Newty,
maybe i didn't look close enough, but what are your tower speakers?
what is the clear height from the floor to hte bottom of the Z5?
do you have any interference with the with the tower speakers and things on the Z5?

so far i just have the standard system but i am looking to upgrade
thanks

That looks good. I can tell that you really put some time and effort into it.

I got the rail from AWS.
The tower speakers are Fusion T-series 3 ways. There is plenty of room for the Z-5 and I've had 4 surfboards on the rack 1 over 6' w/o any clearance issues. I even raise the Z-5 a bit from where my dealer put it. I'll get some better pics for you.

Do you have a part number on the rail going around the platform. If it is from a supra, what model boat. I have been wanting that since I got my lsv last year.
Thanks
Jimmy

Newty,
The rail looks great.I hope you don't take this wrong but here goes.I had a Supra with a rail like that.A friends Yellow Lab swam over to my boat and got up on my swim platform. The dog slipped and got his leg caught in the rail between the rail and the platform.I had to jump in and hold the dog up while my wife pulled his leg out.The dog was ok but shaken up.I always worried about that rail with the kids on the swim platform until I removed it.Just something to think about.Little hands and feet can fit between the rail and the swimdeck.

Another example of a "head's up" found on these boards that might save some life or limb.

Hey newty,

I called AWS and was quoted a best price of $185 for the swim platform rail (regular price is $210). What gives? Do you have connections over there, or what?

CAB, I had to look back through my receipts and found the one for the rail. I misquoted what I paid. Sorry for the bad info. I swore it was less than that.

As far as the safety concern I have heard a few horror storys regarding the rail. Defininatly something to watch for.

Thanks for the heads up!

I know I'm showing my stereo ignorance, but what are the two items by the throttle on either side of the wake plate guage?

PS I like the swim platform rubber is that stock or aftermarket? Also wondering if they make a stainless grab rail for the Outback size paltform?

Sled,
That is the Harmon Kardon Drive/Play for Ipod. I have one in truck. They are pretty neat. Round piece is controller and works just like ipod click wheel...

04, very cool. How hard was it to hook up? Did you find it used as well or did you buy it new?

Sled,
They are easy to install. Only connected needed from the HK unit is either a 3.5mm mini jack if your stereo has that type of aux input or mini to rca. You can run it with a cig lighter plug or hard wire it. There is a new model out that is bluetooth and high end, but there is tons of inventory of new/closeouts like this one... try here.. $30-$40... I have seen them as cheap as $20

You get great sound from the ipod to the stereo with these if you hook them up directly to stereo. My Tahoe does not have an aux input so I have to use an FM Modulator.. sucks.

Enjoy
