How fast should an '07 mobius lsv be?

At the end of last year, I bought an '07 mobius lsv. I just got done with the break-in period and gave it the juice. I am only able to get about 38 mph out of it. Don't get me wrong, I didn't anticipate rocketing down the river but I thought I should at least get 43 or 44 mph or was I wrong. My concern is that when I slalom, I may not have enough speed. Let me know what you can get out of yours.

36-38 mph thats about where mine runs, I have recalibrated the speedo with a gps. I have wake board prop on and I am at 5500 feet in elevation. I pull skiers and they are good with it. I think it will still run 36-38 with lots of people and a skier. Its mostly about the hull design. I have a diffrent prop and it brought the rpms down a little and did give me a touch more speed but I lost alot of the hole shot, so went back to wake board prop.

Same here I have an 08 and gps only put it at 39 with three persons on it. I had to fight to get my insurance company to put a decent mph they wanted somthing stupid like 57 mph they said cause of the 325 horse power. they only put it at 45 God damn insurance companies suck.

My speedo said 46mph on my Outback V.

My 06 LSV is in the 38 range. I have wake prop too. I think stock prop is a little faster..

Deafgoose, you probably need to calibrate speedos a bit. My 04 Outback would only get about 44 with 13x13 prop..

I think 46 is about right for an OB V. I have my speedos calibrated via GPS, and I can usually see mid-40's.

I have an 08 lsv with wakeboard prop, i am similar to Aintskeered at high elevation, 5600.

i had been temped to try another prop, but don't want to lose the hole. thanks for the info seth.

i have not calibrated with gps, but it seems about right at top speed of 37 +/-

It's all about the prop. The 4-blade prop is shaped (pitch) diffenently than the 3-blade prop. The hole shot is more important than top-end with 8 people and 1500lbs of ballast. My 05 Mobius LS would run 45 or 46 with the stock 3-blade prop, my 08 Supra Launch 21V with the wakeboard prop, pulls harder, but will only run about 38-40mph.

I have a 2002 LSV with an aftermarket 4 blade prop. Not sure what the pitch is but it must be fairly close to the stock one since the hole shot and top end have always been pretty much the same. I can get to 40 mph and that's about it, but keep in mind that I can get there with just me in the boat, 12 people in the boat, or 12 people in the boat pulling a skier. 320 HP with those "towing" props is one vicious setup.

mine reads 38-39 mph at wot, not sure what rpm, I dont ski so I've only went there a few times. I have an 07 lsv with an acme 14x14.25 four blade prop. the stock prop would go 42 with 2 ppl and no ballast, I have never calibrated it with a gps though so it could be wrong I guess.

I've had my '04 LSV up to around 70.


BTW, it was on the trailer at the time.


On the water, I only get up to around 32 or so. I bought the boat a few months ago and have never driven it at WOT. Never been in that much of a hurry. I tend to watch the Tach more than the speedo when not pulling someone. I try not to exceed 3500 for more than a few seconds. Sure, those engines were built to withstand more than that, but why tempt fate? Just my opinion.

What is the best prop for extra wieght in these boats? I just got an 07 LSV and it has a 4 blade CNC on it from the dealer. Is that the best prop out right now? And thanks for the help.

For wakeboarding it is the best prop, the wake board props are low pitch to carry a heavy load, NOT speed. My old MasterCraft with a 13 x 13 would do 48mph. My new LS with a 11.5 x 13 will probably top out around 42mph. I believe an Outback with the stock prop will probably hit 45mph+.

Oh, don't forget a V -drive is going to have an additional Hp decrease going through the v-drive transmission where as the DD's won't. Look in wakeboard magazine online and you can see top speeds and 0-30 times. The DD's walk all over the V-drives. The price you pay for a wake, a very nice seating arrangement and the ability to carry a heavy load! If you are NOT wakeboarding change props if you want more topend.

Who needs Joe Techie when we have the Z man. Good answers as usual Z. Deafgoose, keep in mind your Outback V is quite a bit smaller than an LSV even though they are both V Drives. And you may need to calibrate with your GPS to be sure. My Outback on the GPS has hit 46 no better.

Well, I'm obviously not needed here... :(

...but I'll say it anyway... I have an 06 LSV that goes above 44 all the time. The hull and prop determine top speed, load and orientation are applicable, but minor. Same hull, different prop.

The V-Drive changes load, and top HP, but these boats are not limited by HP, they are limited by hull design so the DD and V-drive versions of the same boat (comparribly setup) will travel at ~ the same speed. The V-Drives in those mags Z is quoting all have wakeboard props, the DD's have speed props (for the most part.)

I have the non-wakeboard prop, so I get ~45-46 at WOT, and cruise at 38-40 with no problem. I also have no tower so I'm sure that the wind resistance makes a HUGE difference. (tongue planted firmly in cheek)
