I am well into Season 2 on the boat, figured I would poast the good, bad and the other I have ran into.

2007 mobius lsv, just coming up on 100hrs.

Lost bolt that attaches steering cable to rudder(kinda intresting under way) This bolt was installed from the bottom up(nut on top) and must have vibrated lose. bolt fell out and no steering. Fix was tighten nut but to install the bolt from the top (nut on bottom) to date has not vibrated lose again but if it did would still have steering just a nut in the bottom of boat.

Fuel vapor lock. This was resolved by moving the "Hot" lines that cross over and by the fuel pump away from the pump (tie wraps) If it dose ever vapor lock on you a wet towel place on the pump and in just a couple minutes will clear.

Ballest bag will not empty. This was the front bag, Couldnt reach into the locker to feel the pump. Fix- The way the wiring loom under the dash was attached, A bump caused the hot wire to unplug from the contact point. More tie wraps and a touch more slack all better.

Bilge pump poor preformance. The pump would work but occasionally very slow/low volume. Fix - there are several nobs/ attachments /engine accessories that were not sanded primed or preped properley when the coat of black was shot on several parts. they Flake off (paint flakes) from about 1/2 inch down to very small. These end up in the bilge area (after washing ect). the tangel in the impellar for the bilge pump and cause trouble. This pump snaps out of its housing and can be cleaned very easly and its like a new one.

Trailer lights. Ughhh this needs to be addressed by the manufacture my trailer had the crimp/add a wire connector on all of the conections. I get the trailer wet three day a week or better. wet then dry ect. started having trouble end of the season last year. Corrosion in all conections Finally this spring I couldnt keep the lights working. I removed the wiring and installed new with all sodered and sealed conections. On the plus side each light has its own ground to the trailer near the light!

Backup Break release. fought them and fought them! sometimes they would work and then nothing. Always when you get into the tight spot and need to back up they would lock up. I chased grounds and conections, added ground wires ect. Finally replaced the selinoid that bypasses the surge breaks. Wow these are nice!

Oil Changes. I had bought one of them drill extractors to do oil changes with. This is real good in theory but I didnt have any luck getting this to work very good. Kinda messy and very slow. I orderd a top side changer for the next go around will see how that works.

This is not a complaint list I LOVE my boat!! Little things are to be expected Just thought I would poats my troubles list and perhaps somone else will have a place to start looking if they have simular troubles.

Well on to the additions,

I built a bow filler cushion with a back rest and it comes into the rear area with a seat and back rest there, the window closes against it and diverts the cool air up and over.

Added the 750 fat sac for surfing

Drilled and added the pop up cleats ( order these when getting your boat) I didnt think I wanted them but oh so nice to have on the rare occasion when you need them.

Built a light bar for evening excursions, added interior lighting front and rear of boat (would used led if I do it again , Still may up grade)

Built a recovery system to winterize the boat with antifreeze (recovers exhaust blow by and from shaft seal)

Installed cargo nets in the rear lockers over the ballest bags.

replumed water intake for garden hose hook up (no more fake a lake system)

Replaced swim platform topper with gator skin, also added a chunk to the front bow (slick spot around light)

Added Keel guard

Working on reverse hydrofoil, Mounts are attached to boat, still working on the redesigned foil shape and size

Still looking for good swivel seat application, and as always the glass on the lake!

What sort of keel guard did you add?

Its a Keel Guard from Overtons $169 for the 8' and $199 for the 10' I cant rember now which one I orderd but It seems like it was the 8' I was a little disapointed when I got it... Thought it would be something more. When I started chopping on it and after installing and using it for a while. I am very glad I put it on. I am not sure what its made out of but tough stuff.

I'd like to see the platform and the bow filler cushion if you've got pics of those. Impressive list!

I want to be like you. I tinker with my boat every time out thinking of the things i'd like to add but need to develop the skills to get it done. Thanks for being a part of this forum -- your thoughts help guys like me move forward.

You said:

I've noticed mine does the same thing you described (works sometimes but never when i really needed it) -- so i just did the override by placing a nut in the slot so the tounge didn't depress. When/if you have a chance, could you better describe what you did?

Thanks!

I'll be busy adding cargo nets, etc. over the next several days.

Lsv Flying, I know what you mean If I aint on the water playing I am dreaming about additions or up grades to an already great boat!

The selinoid is aft of the master cylinder for the surge brakes(in the trailer toung) When you put the tow vehicle in reverse it closes and dose not allow the fluid to go to the breaks. Mine was intermitant. Check the ground wire good (usuall problem)

The dealer could prob warrenty this but I am 5 hours from there and would have the fuel over and back plus a night in the hotel. So I went to local trailer place and bought a 12v selinoid and changed mine out. $32. And a little time.

I had made a couple of shims to drop into the toung for backing but gets old quick! Have some one sit in the tow vehicle and put you hand on the selinoid they can put it in and out of reverse. You can feel a "click" when the selinoid closes(reverse). Also a test light to make sure you have 12v there. Mine did(12v) but no go on the selino operating.

Thanks for the information -- I am looking forward to getting that taken care of.

I am only 1 hour from the dealer but pulling the boat and towing it there and back costs $60 in gas -- money better spent learning how to do it myself.

I am going to install the cargo nets this week -- any suggestions?

Only thing I can recomend is to try and find some stainles steel eye hooks... I couldnt find any. I am guessing that at some point the regular steel ones will rust. Mine have not yet...... but time will tell. Also pre drill "undersized" where you are going to install the hooks! Enjoy

aintsk,

I was going to say that stainless eye bolts are easy to find then i realized I next to the Gulf of Mexico with several marine parts houses dealing with salt water issues and you are in the middle of the Rockies. Try www.mcmastercarr.com or MSN, the big blue book!

I just got my aftermarket pop up cleats. Anything you learned during your install you'd like to share? Thanks much!

Kaneboats, No they went real easy. Get into the boat and figure out where you want them for sure. I had bought some fenders for my boat but because of the shape of the boat I was hitting the dock with the side of the boat. I needed a larger fender for the front.... So when I installed mine I moved the front ones aft a ways. Also on my lsv if you look up and under from the inside you can see where the reinforcesd section of is. I used a step bit on mine. Think it was to a half inch. Real clean no chipping of the gel coat.

I am impressed with your bow filler seat. I want one. What a great idea. How much was it to put the upholstery on it?

I just order the upholstery from the dealer. I orderd one yard.... Needed 1.5 cause I cut one of them wrong. I have about $200 in the whole thing plus my time. I used alum 1x1 angel for the sub frame, Sea Board for the seat bottoms and back. I Can not find my reciet or rember what the yard of material was not to spendy though!
