View Full Version : Anyone have Moomba Step Plates?

I noticed that the Supra Gravity Games brochure boat has step plates/pads from the factory, I'd love to add these to my boat, but it doesn't appear to be something I can get direct from Skiers Choice.

This is what I'm referring to;

I've found these, but they look too cheezy, I want something nice, like machined aluminium or stainless;

Does anyone have any suggestions or know of anything? I think something with the Moomba logo would be even better!

ian, i now someone who got a set of the no slip pads for the trailer fenders-they were cut out and said moomba on them and put them in the same location-actually looked good

Ian, I have looked for the same and came up empty. I found this but haven't gone any further.

Hmm, I'll have to look in to that! I don't know if my trailer has no-slip pads on it, but worth checking in to...

Very cool, if I can't find something with the Moomba logo I think I'll go with these. Anything is better than having people step on my fiberglass!

I'll have some made for you guys with the Moomba Logo engraved in them. Give me an idea of the size and what price you'd be willing to spend. I invision them being billet aluminum about 3 inches by 6 or 8 inches. Chromed or electric polished (ie like the board racks finish) Let me know......................

I bought a bulk piece of 3mm thick Seadek and cut 40+" long strips 2.75" wide and stuck them on the tops of the gunnels. It actually matches the Moomba platinum exactly. Goes from the tower legs to the gas fill or thereabouts. NO feet can touch the 'glass at all and it looks killer. :D

Aqua, I'm a little interested. If you get a decent amount of people interested, let me know on cost. Although it seems like I remember the Supra ones having some plastic or rubber on them as well. Otherwise wouldn't they be super slippery? Also, how would these be fastened, just drill through the fiberglass? Sorry for all the questions!

I would definately be interested as well, but as mentioned by Aqua, I'd like to have some rubber incorporated, possibly like where the Moomba logo is cut out have the rubber come up through the aluminium. I'm not sure what I'd pay, please give a price range :)

Al, here's a couple of pics i snapped today. I couldn't resist and just had to get the back thru-hull fittings in. I'll get a couple better ones in actual daylight to show color comparison. :D

I like it. Where did you get the material to do the job.

I got it from Seadek. I bought the 74" sheet because i also wanted enough to place a pad on the nose for a dock step-off and other stuff. Turns out i could have got away with the 38" sheet anyway! I used the 3mm but they also offer it in 5mm as well. I know in the pic it's hard to tell due to the yellow cast but it's the cool gray.

Here's the link to it in the online store. Seadek Sheet Material (http://www.seadekstore.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=5)

Razzman--
I just went to the seadek website. They can custom make that piece. I am going to give them a call and see if they can make one with the moomba name on it. Great Idea thanks for the info. Hopefully, I ease up on the people that love to slide their icechest across the gunrail.

I don't think so but I know I'd still be interested! This is the area that is most scratched up on our boat.

There are no step plates specifically for Moomba, they don't exist. You have four options;
Put Seadek on top of the gunwale, similar to this (http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_OPpN7Yz6xrw/TBiSnRrjQpI/AAAAAAAABag/T2kOAM0ErJI/s1600/IMG_3179.JPG) or mine (https://forum.moomba.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1458&d=1222233136)
Put a generic step plate (http://www.downwindmarine.com/Step-Plate-2-1-4-x-8-3-8-Chrome-Plated-p-58878.html) there instead, more (http://shopping.rexmar.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=steppads)
Use another boat mfgrs step plates, ie: Supra
Have one custom machined with rubber inserts
I researched this until my eyes wouldn't focus any longer :rolleyes:
