Currently I'm running kicker marine 6.5's on my tower and I just need more! So the issue, do I add another set of 6.5's or run 4 6x9's? I don't know anyone with either set up so what do you guys run for loud and clear tunes at the end of the rope?
thanks!

Look into wetsounds, NVS, or bullet tower speakers. More money, but MUCH louder. You'll need an amp as well, if you don't already have one.

4 6X9's will be louder than 4 6.5's

What are you powering those tower speakers with? I am running (2) 6 3/4 Polks and can hear them clearly at 75'.

byronkoz is right, 6x9 are louder than 6.5. From what I've seen, then also typically handle more power. But it's a compromise, as the sound quality from a 6.5 is much better.

I'm with tlatoani though, I'd suggest looking into a really high quality speaker. I'm running a cheaper pair of 6.5's right now (Polk MOMO), cost me about $350. I could buy another set of 6.5's to get more sound for a total of $700, or I could have just bought the Wetsounds pro-60's for that much and I'd be much more happy.

I'm running a soundstream 500 watt rms 2 channel. a local guy has a set of arc (lightning accessories) double 6.5's (4 speakers) that i can get a good buy on. I have a few friends that rave about them. anyone heard them?
