I have an extra MTX sub amp that I took out of my truck when I upgraded the sound system, and I was wondering if it would be okay to use it on my boat. If anybody knows or has used a car audio amp on a boat, let me know. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

Alot of us use (plan on using) car amps. As long as you mount it in a safe, dry area you shouldn't have any problems.

The guy at Best buy gave me a line about car amps throwing out sparks and fumes could cause a fire  He said you have to have marine amps in boats. :? I guess its a line of bull and thats why he works at best Buy

Mount it up high so that water won’t come in and short everything out!

jmvotto,
I don't know about you, but my amp is pretty far away from my motor compartment...
Nothing like great salespeople... Use a better line like waterproof circuitry...
The statement he makes IS true regarding things like starters and alternators on boats...

Thanks everybody for the feedback. As far as the amp throwing out sparks, I wouldn't want it my car either if it did that!
