I am looking into picking up a truck for a Tow Vehicle, currently I borrow trucks for the occasional time i need to Tow the boat.
Would a 2 wheel drive truck really be that bad for getting a boat out of the water? Should i definitely go for a 4x4?
Is a 305 V8 big enough? or is 350 mandatory.
I have a 06 LSV.
Thanks guys

I have a 4wd, never use it for towing the boat out of the water, except for one very steep ramp that gets a lot of traffic and is always very wet.
305 is plenty of HP in my opinion.

I just bought a Dodge Diesel 4X4 and it is plenty of power.
We tow our 07 Outback with a 2003 2wd Tahoe and it's never been an issue.

I used 2002 Chevy Z71 until this year, now use 07 Tundra both 4x4. I need 4 wd during late summer when the ramps get algae growing on them. Never had a big problem with the 02 chevy but the 07 Tundra has a lot more power.

Toyota has come a long way with their engines. I remember when the V6 came out many moons ago.

I was hardcore Chevy/GMC until I test drove the Tundra. It didn't take long for me to make the move to Toyota (never thought I would say that).

I have a 4X4 (Ford Expedition V8) and have actually never had to use 4 wheels to get out. That said though, it's kind of nice to have the option if needed. Most ramps are in good shape with lots of drainage.

I have used both my 4.6L 2wd F-150 & Wifes 5.4L Expedition to pull our Outback V and both do well.
