I'm debating where to mount my two amps. Please post pics showing where you mounted yours so that I can get some ideas.

Thanks!

Al,
I plan on picking up my boat this aft..
But, for description, I have one AMP (fact) on the back wall of the console (I guess it is on the back of the front left seat.)
2nd amp is on the left side in the console where there is a raised wall where I think the air vents come through..

I'll try to get photos this eve.

I'm having my amp and sub installed in our 06 LSV by a local shop this weekend. They carpeted a piece of marine plywood and mounted it just above the batteries which is the wall that the cushions in the bow back up to. They had to put the board in because the wall itself is curved and the amp was too big to mount to it so they needed a larger and flatter surface. The amp is the JL M6450.

I should get it back on Monday so I will try to post some pics then.

That's where I put mine. One above the batteries and one on the left wall "vent chase". Also had to mount a board to the backside of the front seat backrest to accomidate the amp.

Thanks guys, for the ideas. The back side of the front seat looks like a good place but it's so difficult to work in there to drill holes to mount the amp. Or do you take the cushion off and drill the holes from the front?

Thought I would share where I ended up mounting my amp. Seems like a lot of folks here mounted their amps either on the back side of the front port seat or on the vent "chase" in the storage area under the glove box. I use that area to transport my surfboard on the way to the lake/river so I did not want to mount the amp on the chase. And the back of the front port seat is a pain to get to. I wanted to mount it up out of the way where it's not taking up any usable storage space.

I ended up mounting it aft of the chase, up high. I found that there is a backing strip running the length of the boat that the rubrail is screwed to. It's about 1" wide and about 3/8" thick and is made of plastic composite material. I cut away about a 1" strip of the carpet the width of the amp and mounted the amp to the backing strip with three screws (you can see part of the black backing strip in the pics below). I then very carefull drilled one hole for the lower mounting screw (didn't want to accidentally drill thru the hull  ). I literally drilled about 1/8" then stopped. The lower screw is just enough to keep the bottom part of the amp secure (the amp's weight is being supported by the three screws on top).

I haven't completed the wiring yet but wanted to post the pics in case others were contemplating amp mounting location as I was.

I still have to find a place to mount the 2nd amp (for the sub) but I have a couple of ideas.

Nice work. I plan on gluing resined MDF to the hull and mounting the amps. I'll post pics when I get done.
