Well we picked it up yesterday and very happy, Our first boat was a Bayliner 175xt and was great (but a little small) and after 2 years we had to move up. I can't begin to explain what an improvement this is.

Very nice!

I'm noticing a lot of boats with color-matched towers, is this an option, or do all new Outbacks come with the tower matched to the boat? I want to make sure my tower is color-matched, it looks awesome!

Ian, the dealer here powder coats alot of the towers on boats they bring in, the boat was in stock and tower was already done. I liked the tower when I saw it but after the racks, speakers and mirror I loved it.

Looks great! I am really liking these powder coated towers! It really makes the boats pop!

How do you like the tower speakers? I'm trying to decide which way I'm going to go since wet sounds are WAY outta the budget right now. haha

Thanks, Good call Lanceswake. My wife had to "just run in" to the mall on our way home from Waterski Boats Dallas. So I was left to occupy myself in the parking lot.

Beautiful boat Mc! We also had a 175 before we bought the Moomba. The 175 was a great little boat, but no comparison to tournament grade. Welcome to the club!!

Thanks, Yea I think that the 175 was great to way start off and my sister actually bought it from us. It was the most pimpin 175 around  but I finnaly decided no matter how much you dress up PT cuiser it is still just a PT cuiser and will not perform like a sportscar. Also we have 5 in the family and could never invite more than 2 people. Here is a pic of the old boat. (Its almost imbarassing now)

You know MC that's not a bad looking boat! And when you consider the price I think it's one the best boats in its class. I did the same thing, I did everything I could to make it not look like a Bayliner but at the end of the day it was still an I/O. Ultimately we grew out of it too. When the kids started getting bigger and thier friends got bigger it only made sense to get a bigger, badder boat!

Hammer, Joe pool is not bad, we normally go on week nights in the summer from 5 to sundown and have most of the lake to ourselves. The weekends get a little crowded but you can find some quite areas. I'll keep an eye out for ya.

We finally get our boat this Saturday…feels like eternity!!! The tower just got back from getting powder coated (black), and is attached to the boat! They hung the white speaker pods today, and it goes to the stereo place tomorrow to get my PRECISION AMP installed, along with the 12” sub!!! We upgraded the ballasts to the 1,100 lbs. Versions!!! All three of them!!!! I shouldn’t have to dodge the fat sacks any longer now like I did in the ’04 Mobius!!! By the way, we are getting an ’08 XLV GG. You guys should be able to see us coming?

Hey McMoomba,

I read your thread about you being embarrassed about your 175. Shoot man, that thing is Catdaddy compared to what my son & I started out with! Get this; we started out with an ’86 Glastron fish and ski boat. We had a tripod installed so that my son could wakeboard. He couldn’t get enough wake so on the way to Lake Worth one day to ski, we stopped at Home Depot and bought four bags of sakrete concrete mix and put them in the back of the boat. Two on starboard and two on portside.

We would get right in there with all those competition ski boats. They didn’t like us doing it at first, until my son started flipping on this old pile of junk!!! We went to the beach, and everyone came over to check out this boat, and when they saw our hillbilly redneck ballast system, they all died laughing!!!!

This boat had an outboard 100 HP Evenrude engine. I would give it full throttle and the nose would stand straight up. It took 100 yards for that thing to plain out while trying to get my son up on his board!!! Not kidding!!! I couldn’t see anything!

It just goes to show you that you can have fun no matter what you have out on the lake.

It sure make you appreciate these Moombas!!!!!!!!!!

Hammer,

I just walked down to the lake. There’s a lot of trash from all the run off from the recent deluge we had! Watch for those telephone poles (logs) that lay just under the surface of the water. Those things have a nasty habit of taking your prop out!!!!

We’re not sure yet if we will go to EM or Worth when we get back. If we go to EM, we’ll hang out around the Dam to Party Cove. You should be easy to spot!

Membrain, that is a great story.I live on a lake in orlando, their are a couple of kids with a 15 foot center console fishing, two years ago they rigged up a 4by4 wood post, it has ropes and cables, holding it up. These kids are the real deal wakeboarders, It is funny as hell watching them rip behind that boat. The boat, wooden tower and kids are still ripping yearround,to this day.

I thought the heater core was under the drivers side floor board. Do you have any pics of the under-dash of your Outback? The Outback that I looked at didn't have a heater, but the boat I ordered does, curious where I will end up putting the sub if that area is occupied...

Ian the heater core is right where they put the sub on boats without heaters. The vent that blows on the driver is right there, and the 2 tubes go to port from there so your pretty much out of that vicinity for your sub. Boat is still in storage so no pics.

ian - Ditto for my '07 Outback. Heater is in the space where the sub would usually be located. I like big sound but livin' in the Midwest like the heat on cold days even more. - Deerfield

Great looking Boat. I like the Powdercoat Tower. My dealer wants me to come in so they can do my Tower. I'm still not sure. I do like it though. Mybe I am just use to seeing it the way it is. I rather spend my money on a Perfect Pass system.
