Since this is the pride and joy section....... Here's my attempt at getting my 2 year old son ready for the water. It's a homemade version of a ski skimmer from an old kneeboard. And yes, I know the picture brings Jeff Foxworthy to mind.

Hell Yeah!!! If I was close I would be standing in the driveway waiting for my turn! That looks like a lot of fun! Maybe it will aslo teach him to love the lawnmower! At least you will not have to cut the grass yourself forever! Congtrats on getting the little guy interested.

Moomba,

That area around your house looked so familiar and then I looked and saw you are in Thomasvile! I am here in Panama City but the inlaws live in Donaldsonville. We actually taught my son how to ski on the grass in the front yard. We sprayed it with a garden hose, made him squat over the skis and then I would start pulling the rope and tell him to stand up. The first time on the water he got up his first try and went 100 yards before he let go. On the knee board, just like the one you have, my wife would sit on the back of the boat put him sitting on it with the tip on the deck to steady it and then I would idle away. They are so light they float with them on it and she would slowly let out the rope and off we would go! They felt safe because mama was right there holding the rope and watching.

Great picture. Its good to start them off young. My sons started kinda late. When My wife and I got married, he was 5 years old. Until a few years ago, he never tried water sports. Now he wakeboards, water skies, wake surf, tube. It feels good to see them interested in the same things as you. This year he wanted to learn different tricks on his wakeboard. He already clears the wake. Proud DADDY I am.

I'm hoping he will be very good at watersports. He is extremely agile and coordinated for his age. He started riding in a tube at around 6 months old (with us of course) and really seems to love the whole boating experience. A full day tires him out. This was taken last summer on the ride home after a long day of riding and tubing.

BTW.. Thankfully we have broken the use of the pappy.

Monty, I've seen a picture like that many times in my rear view mirror. I've got 6 from 2 up to 13. Here's my 9y/o in the shot that won a contest at the dentist's office: http://home.comcast.net/~pbiggins/Brush2.JPG

Yeh,

That pic is usually how the day ends on the way home. Heck if my wife would drive that would be me sitting there like that.
