Heys guys pretty new to wakeboarding. This coming Summer will be the first time I've had my own board and boat.
Just wondering what lengths of rope you are all using?
I'm also pretty much a beginner so I'm not sure if that matters......

I also want to purchase a good rope that is "non-stretch". I've been doing some reading about ropes and that sounds the way to go. Right now I have just a regular ski rope, but I'm sure it will stretch when boarding.
Can any of you recommend a good rope in around $80 price range?

Thanks,
Aaron

75 feet minimum. But I put the extension on, so i'm eighty. But the rope is from the tower, so that what....bout 70' behind the boat actually?

I ussualy ride at 75 80' static (non-stretch) rope, at 23.5/24 mph

Ussualy with beginers I dont put them any farther than 65' out.

Depending on your speed at skill level it vary's but I would recomend starting at 65' see how you like it and move in or out from there.

I use accurate ropes, I would try looking for a last years model or something with 3 differnt extensions.

Thanks for the help guys!

I'll start off at 65' and see what happens from there and also mess with a few other lengths and see what I like best.

boardersbestbuy.com <---------- Awesome website! I've been on to that for awhile now and they have sum kick ass deals. I should have picked up the rope and handle combo they just had advertised, but it's sold out now.

www.bulletlines.com has some really nice ropes at an affordable price as well. I'm also bidding on one of those and an Accurate line on E-Bay.....

We use a straight line no stretch rope and handle. There is a night and day difference between a ski rope and a no stretch rope. I typically ride 2 loops in, which should be like 60ft.

I like hitting a big wake and fast. It seems like the wake is less rampy and more broken farther back.

I use the proline LG. Its got a leather like grip, its soo comfy and wont chew up your hands. I got it packaged with the 75' rope. Love it!

I think it all depends on your boat and wake, with our boat if you go eighty your starting to get in the wash out, just watch your wake at riding speed and adjust length to where you have the cleanest steepest face if your looking for some pop. I'm not looking for that I'm old and fat, :( but thats what my boy looks for  we have a D-drive, we rode in a 24V supra and back at eighty was still clean w/big face...

I used to have the same feeling about a shorter rope for beginners. I just returned from a wakeboard camp with my girlfriend who was a newbie. The instructors had her cutting in and out in the flats getting used to edges on a 75ft rope at about 18 MPH. You lose some of that with a shorter rope. My mindset has officially changed for beginners and will only pull at 75ft. Also i ride at 80ft at 24mph. Good Luck

04Outback,

I went to Orlando Wake Academy. I got to ride with Pro Sean O'brien who rides for Obrien boards. I have been to a couple of camps in the past and this was the best and half the price. Check it out orlandowake.com

Also thinking of buying another one for a spare
