View Full Version : location of registration numbers
Hi. I have a 2007 outback with a blue main panel and a yellow accent.
The registration numbers go at the front, but do they end up on the narrow yellow accent, or lower on the blue main panel?

Most states (or Provinces/Territories in this case) are fairly vague on this. The main goal is that they be visible, ie. well above the water line and at least my state declares a minimum letter height of 3 inches.
Mine are located similar to byronkoz (https://forum.moomba.com/viewtopic.php?t=5278) except more forward of the vents

varies by state here...
Our Dept of Wildlife, fish, parks dept sends a explanation of guidelines with the registration sticker..
I don't think I was clear enough.
My question is if there is enough room in the accent part of the Outback for numbers. I think there may not be and I should get yellow numbers to go on the blue area which is the main panel (blue in my case).

There may be, however, I think there is a limit on how small the registration numbers can be (3" tall in NC). That may be your limiting factor ifn you have the same restriction.

Laz are you trying to get your numbers under the rub rail? 3 inches is pretty standard as I am from Ontario and still keep 2 boats at my mom and dads and have a few boats in WI where I live now and they are all 3 inch numbers. So my suggestion is to just get them cut and play around with them until you get them where you want?
By the way, did you get your new boat drivers license yet? I got mine at the TO boat show, not sure why but I did

Hey, sled - I think you have lots o' toys. Fast toys. Geez, it must be nice. I have a boat and, if I pedal real fast, a bicycle. - Deerfield

It's maintaining them that's the pain. Easy way to see who has what is to do a spark plug check. Add the total # of spark plugs you need to run everything you have. This includes your vehicles. According to a radio station I listen to in Milwaukee anything less than 50 is shameful

Dang, I only have 19....and I thought I was livin' there for a min....

02-27-2008, 07:56 PM
I thought you brought it with ya when you came down. I was about ready to curse
02-27-2008, 08:03 PM
only 24 and that counts a weedeater and lawnmower...
Wow.. i am low on the spark plug ladder.. not even 50%
02-27-2008, 08:19 PM
Boys boys boys. Heck you got 8 alone just in your boat! Your killing me, I thought this would be an easy test.
42 right now but in a couple of weeks add another 8 and do I get any credit for Glow Plugs?
02-27-2008, 09:45 PM
Ya we'll give credit for glow plugs
02-27-2008, 10:46 PM
36, can I count the John Deere twice, winter with the plow and summer with the mower deck? :D
plowed 6" off the drive last night, can't wait for "moomba time"
That puts me up to 46!!!! Still far short of your 62! Wow you must have a large gas bill!
02-28-2008, 07:17 AM
Like you wouldn't believe :(
02-28-2008, 07:18 AM
Z, 42 + 8 + 4 should put you at 54 no?
JV I hear ya!
Well I didn't know I was getting credit for the new Moomba yet! I also forgot my 2 lawnmowers!!! That would put me at 56, now I have to figure out what I can buy so that I can at least tie with you! Luckily we go everywhere in the Jetta TDI (average 41mpg and that is not driving slow) so it is not so bad here. Unless you count the 12 plugs behind the big boat, at least 100 -130 bucks per trip.

Butta - My count is a measely 23:
Still, got ya beat! Nice to know I'm not in last place. - Deerfield

Think about how many portable gas cans you have aswell for the toys
1-25 gallon rolling with pump
1-1 1/2 gallon
2 Waverunner sorry
1 Power Washer Gas are the best
1 SnowBlower for you warm guys its that white stuff
1 Chain saw
1 leaf blower
wow I do use a bunch of gas
02-28-2008, 05:53 PM
Yep the two lawn mowers count.
PS I came up with 2 more myself, my pressure washer and the lawnmower at the lake
02-28-2008, 06:41 PM
Hey, some of my stuff has 2 plugs per cylinder....do I get extra credit for those?
02-28-2008, 06:44 PM
Butta, for you we'll make the exception, I don't want anyone going away feeling less of a motor head because they didn't get to use all there plugs 8)
02-28-2008, 06:46 PM
Sweeeeettt!!!!.....23, tied fer last place!!!
Movin' up in the world, I am
02-28-2008, 07:00 PM
Butta, youd better head over to the Home Depot tonight and pick up a couple of chainsaws (no man should be without anyways), maybe a generator just in case, and heck maybe a new weed wacker and leaf blower to be safe. Then head over to Joes Used cars or Eds Sweet deals or somplace like that for a new used V8 muscle car for your daughter. Hurry up we'll wait :D

Not a Stewart fan, I'd hafta go to Lowe's on account of that's where my account is
02-28-2008, 08:14 PM
Butta - You're back in last place by yourself. I remembered the power washer. My count is now twenty four spark plugs. Sorry. - Deerfield
02-28-2008, 08:17 PM
You couldn't ask for a better dood for bringin' up the rear.
Is my modesty showing, again?
02-28-2008, 08:26 PM
How did we get from Registration #'s to here? Oh yeah Deerfield was making me feel quilty agian
It's all because I had to walk over your boat last year at the Jamboree isn't it :x
Man I forgot my generator and my wifes 1973 Honda CT90!!
That puts me up to 58! Getting Closer, I am sure there is something out in the garage that I overlooked!!! Unfortunately my pressure washer is electric. Now if I hadn't sold my old collecters item BMW last year (6) and the 3 dirt bikes, lets see that would give me 67!!!!!
02-28-2008, 09:49 PM
Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda. Come on Z
Yeah your right! I must admit defeat! You win the plug contest! :?
But I must admit this was a fun post!
02-28-2008, 11:16 PM
I can hardly wait for the Mosquito bite contest this summer
02-29-2008, 11:48 AM
Mosquito contest? You will all be competing for 2nd.
I need to get back to work.
Mosquitos?? You would think with this warm weather and all this water around here they would be bad and probably they would but they constantly run these trucks around here spraying toxic fumes to kill them. Now what I did learn about when I moved here from Atlanta 5 years ago is this sort of cool looking little insect called a "Yellow Fly". They will land without your knowledge they will bite the living $&!3 out of you, mostly around your ankles. You will then swell up like nothing you have ever seen. The next day your skin will be raw from the scratching. NO amont of insect repellant effects them. After 2 years your body sort of quits the swelling but the bite still hurts and then itches. They attack in May and the first couple of weeks in June then they seem to go away. They love early mornings and dusk! Incredible bug!
So to start the next round if you get bit by one of these it is worth 5 mosquitos!!!

Z interesting reading, and I'm willing to go 3 mosquito bites for it.
While canoeing in the boundry waters we ran into on many occasions the "Carnivorus Ankle Snaperous". A well trained and persistant relative of the common house fly. Also seems to have an ankle fetish.
