Hi, I am new to this forum and just recentley ordered my first wake boat, an 08 XLV. I am still trying to decide on a color sheme. My questions is how good is the wake on this boat (Gravity 3 Ballast)? I've only ever owned i/o's and have never ridden behind this boat. Compared to larger name boats like Malibu and Mastercraft, how does the XLV with 2k lbs rate? I know this is a Moomba forum so folks could be biased, but there must be a few people who have ridden behind more and can compare.

Thx.

The Hull on the 08 is new for this year. I have a 07 XLV and the wake is great. You can check out reviews on wakeworld.com

The wake on the XLV is very iarge. With this being your first wakeboat, you will be blown-away by the size. The wakes are big and meaty at 22-24mph.Fill all 3 bags up put wake-plate at about half up and the fun starts. The only other boat that i have ridden behind with larger wakes is a mastercraft x-star with about 1300 pounds of ballast in addition to stock ballast. The boat you are getting will accomodate, any rider from pro-level down. The funny thing about wake-size is perspective, when you are riding in the boat looking back at fully loaded wake,it does not seem nearly as large as when you are riding behind boat.I have a 06 LSV with 2100 pounds of ballast and usually ride with it filled. My neighbor has the XLV and i have wake-envy. I have a 750 sack in each rear locker plus an additional 450 sitting on floor in bow, in addition to the stock front bag under floor.Even with my set-up his is larger. You will love the wakes ,the boat and the fun.You are getting the real deal for boarding.

Thanks for the replies. This just makes me want to ride more which is going to be tough because summer in several months away up here in Canada.

Will I need anything other then the factory ballast to have a decent surf?

The factory balast is 1900# two 400# sacks in the rear and one 1100# sack in the front. Put the wakeplate at about 1/2, 22-25MPH and you will be totally satisfied.
It also has a great wake for wakesurfing at 9-14 MPH

The new xlv wake should be awesome. The stock front bag is 650 PBS though. Not 1100. I will be running my xlv with 600's on either side on the engine and 1100 in the playpen plus around 200 lbs of lead in the nose. Wakeplate at half at 23 mph should be huge.

This is going to be the best summer ever! It should be nice change from my 18 foot i/o. How long does it take to fill the ballast?

I have added another intake and pump on the bottom of the hull to increase my fill times. My whole system should take around 7 minutes. With the stock pump to fill my system would take around 15 minutes.
