Okay all you dog owners, how do you keep your seats and stuff safe with your pets? I am concerned about scratchs and stuff from my dogs paws. I dont want to leave my friends behind however. Anybody have any thoughts or experiences with this issue?

If my wife was answering this, she would tell you she has no use for our dog (Female JRT - very high spirits). But then she mutters about how she misses her when she doesn't come along.
I can only tell you, don't leave ropes, or anything that looks chewy laying around unless you are watching them like a hawk. They can't help themselves, and they will chew. Keep their claws nice and trimmed before every boat ride. Don't do sudden starts if they are laying on the seats. Make them lay on the floor before you start. Help them out and they will be fine.
<just my two cents>

Bam, I talked with a guy last weekend about this. ( my wife was really the one that asked) He went and bought towels to match his boat, black, gray, white and had his wife sew them to basically fir on the seats. Pretty good idea, I thought...

towel? What towel? I didn't see any towel!

Two German Shorthaired Pointers, three years, no problems. I’ve got kids and they are way worse. Don’t cut the nails the day of the trip unless you file the edges down.

I keep my boat indoors but it is there to be used.

Just got the boat last June...haven't taken a lot of pics yet. A week after we got it I blew my knee on a whirly! Pics of the SeaRay were taken when we were trying to sell it. Ended up just trading it in. I just added a few more pics...I will be sure and take some more!

Couldn't leave home without them. Besides who else is gonna help me dock the boat? We also had a border collie and had no issues. The vinyl is very pliable. No issues so far!! We do try to keep them on the floor as much as possible when boarding though. Don't want the little guys hurt.

Yes, he is a wiener dog, he is a solid chocolate one. I didn't even know they came this way until my wife found him, his name is Rudy. The great thing about him is that we go to a dog day called Doo-dah-day and I get to wear my shirt that reads "Are you looking at my wiener?".

The black one Beau is a poodle/ dachshund
mix properly termed a doodle. They are great dogs and they love the water.

Since we are talking about dogs, you may want to read the article on life jackets for dogs and see if a jacket is necessary for your dog. I never used one on our Samoyeds.

our fur kids come with us every weekend. we've had up to 5 dogs in the boat at one time. if they learn to lie down when we're moving then there's no damage to seats. the vinyl seems to be quite durable, and the sand is easy to vacuum up! i'd post some pictures but this site doesn't seem to be too picture friendly for me?? (I clicked on the Img button but it did nothing for me!)[/url]

Jesse those are classic! I will be ordering some to where at the lake. I think I will surprise my wife with a shirt too! Thanks......Zabooda, we got Cooper our wiener dog a vest last year, he hated it so we had to teach him to swim, he now loves the water.......

Our springer Lightning is as much of a family member as anyone, and he loves the water, he'll spend all day chasing sparrows in front of our place in about 2 ft of water. However since the new boat last year he has not made any trips out on the boat. We let him in our old boat but it may take a while before we let him out on our new one :(

I'll play! This is my baby girl PJ. She's our spoiled princess and goes on the boat all the time. Loves to ride sittin next to the heater, but hates the water. Such a diva!

This is Lily in my Jeep after a day on the boat (seen in the background on the trailer.)

She is a t-cup poodle. Her sister, Ellie, is a little smaller and not visable in this pic. I'll dig up some pics of them in the water, they are cool dogs.

(I'm not a flamer, I don't really like animals at all, but when my GF Jess got Lily she definately became my best friend, then a year ago we had the opportunity to rescue Ellie and ever since I've loved these little dirtballs.)

Our Dock Dogs, They go every where with us..... except in the new boat. They are pretty happy keeping an eye on the fish for us though. Perhaps in '08 they can get there first ride in the boat.

Butta, Boo looks hungry? Can't you help her to the food. Actually my Brother has a three leged one also. Amazing how good they get around!

Sled491, I couldnt get you pix to open. but I do understand about the springers. these two will chase fish on the dock all day long. well at least till the grill is fired up for lunch (every bodys got to take a break sometime)

She was a mess when we got her. Draggin' that leg like a 2nd tail. I reckon she was about 5 mos old then. You talk about being spoiled, tho, she ain't no lap cat, but she gets a lot of attention.

Couldn't pass up on the opportunity to show off the little man of the house.......

Like it was mentioned earlier I was worried about the same thing with my previous boat vinyl, but it was never an issue as long as they are either naturally filed or done by you just not freshly cut!
