If I may ask... prayer request for my wakeboard partner/wife

As I type this, I am at Methodist Hospital in Memphis. My wife is in surgery for a recently discovered brain tumor. We have gotten tons of good news so far and really believe it is not cancerous. God has really blessed us so far in dealing with many challenges of this.

She will be in surgery for 3-5 hours. Waiting will be the worst part.

When seeing the surgeon last week, she asked, "how soon can I go wakeboarding?" He said as soon as she feels up to it!

I appreciate any prayers you can offer on her behalf.

She is out of surgery and all went VERY Well. They believe they got it all and also believe that the tumor was benign! Doctor says she can wakeboard when she feels up to it and its warm enough!!

She was alert in ICU when we got to go see her. We are very relieved and thankful. God has richly blessed us this week!

We have release papers...She is getting ready and we are heading HOME.
Dr. says all is good! We are waiting for final path report, but Dr. says he is confident the tumor is benign! Praise to God! The last month has been a TOUGH month. We are relieved and looking forward to a speedy recovery. She said last night, she is anxious to wakeboard again.. we may be buying a helmet though!!!
One of the many things we are thankful for is that this happened in winter! we have time to recover before wake season!

Thanks again to all of you! I really enjoy checking into moomba message board each day. Helps get through the winter doldrums.. I think I have been depressed ever since I put the boat up in October! I did get a pull in December from a Mastercraft friend who keeps his boat in a heated garage!

We got home around 5 yesterday. First night home was great.. no nurses walking in during the night.. She is up already and having breakfast.

UPDATE.
Recovery has gone pretty well! She started back to work in late Feb.
We have had some minor speedbumps along the way..mild seizures....
They have been more annoysome than anything.... She can't drive for a while now.....including the boat>>>>
Dr. said last week that she could wakeboard when she is ready....just wear a life jacket... don't ride if you don't feel good..
We did get a helmet back in January.

Hopefully she can ride soon.. I have ridden a few times but she is not ready for the cold water yet.... She has started back to teaching aerobics so that makes her happy.

No Driving means I drive her back forth to work... 90 mile round trip in am and 90 miles in eve.. makes for a long day.

We are both thankful that she is doing as good as she is... wound healed well... after seizures onset, we had a follow up MRI done and there was no evidence of any further issues. They feel like the seizures will subside with time and are related to irritation from the surgery. we have been almost 2 weeks now since last. made it 3 1/2 weeks prior to last one..

She got to ride today! Great start/bumpy finish... She rode her LF for a set and did great. Later we got her on a different board...See, if you have seen the Shaun Murray Pay it Forward thread on WakeWorld, you'd see where he sent out 3 of his new 08 Boards for people to try.. each person rides it and sends it on to the next on the list... We'll our crew had the 145 this weekend..
She took a set on it and was going great, until too many boats passed through and made it a bit bumpy...well.. face plant! Bloody nose and bruised/peeled the eyelids! Poor thing! She had fun all the way up to the face plant.. I'll try to load a pic..

we recently learned that we are going back for another Surgery on Monday 12/1. She has continued to have seizures regularly after the surgery and they have worsened a bit.... We'll be in Memphis from 11/30- 12/4 for Surgery... I appreciate your prayers!

This has been a LONG year. We ended up in the ER Wednesday night due to Seizures and stayed in hospital until tonight. She is now home and resting.
We'll go to Memphis Sunday for Surgery on Monday am.

I get around...well, actually I have a customer in Pittsburgh and he works for them. I was up there about 5 weeks ago....

Jana did well in surgery... we just left her from the late visit at ICU...
Dr. is optimistic about the surgery...she is having left side numbness right now and cant move her left arm/leg, but has feeling in them.. The Dr. said this would happen due to the work he did would cause some swelling but that would go away. she improved greatly from 2 to 4 to 6 to 8:30...
Tomorrow is a new day and we are thankful for today!

Thanks for ya'll support. We even discussed wakeboarding with her surgeon tonight...He said January 1 was too early..ha...That's ok... I can wait til Spring for her to ride...Just wanna make sure she can ride again soon!

I just say this thread. Sorry to hear about the tumor. As I read through the thread, it seems like the surgery went very well. Good to hear. Hey, just to let you know, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer 4 times. She went through the Kimo and radiation treatments. She is still kicking strong.

Thanks Tazz.. SHe is a fighter. I think recovery is gonna take a little longer than last time, but she'll push through. We got a head start this year so she should be ready to ride by April or May... We asked the Dr. Last night about Ski Freeze...which is a New Years Day ride up here....he said it was not a good idea...for anyone...HA HA...
She should move from ICU to a room later today after an MRI. We visited with her at 8:30 and she had breakfast... Back again at 12:30 and hopefully to a room later.

Hey Guys,
Just wanted to give ya'll an update. We moved from Memphis Hospital Friday to an Inpatient Physical Therapy/Rehab facility in Jackson..
It is only 20 mins from the house. She is improving already. I have come home for some rest and catching up and she called and said she had some additional movement tonight! He has had some left leg movement today already. She has been struggling with the paralysis on her left side. Her Dr. has repeatedly said that it was a matter of when, not if she would regain that mobility.. he also said, it would come back pretty fast once it started. Hopefully, she'll make lots of progress in the coming days. She will not have any PT tomorrow but will start at it pretty hard on Monday..
Dr. said she would be wakeboarding by Summer! YEAH!

She is doing better! She has been working 3 days a week now for about 3 weeks.. going to PT 2x per week! Best news is she has not had any seizures since surgery! She is walking much better now and has been going to the gym several nights to walk on the treadmill.
Her left arm is still VERY weak but it is moving some. her shoulder is Sublux (basicly hanging out of socket) and until that strengthens and rebuilds that, it will be very difficult!
She has been feeling pretty good, just tired on work days.
She rode in the boat with us 2 weeks ago and enjoyed being out.. of course was jealous!
She hopefully will be able to ride some this summer, but that shoulder is gonna be an issue. From 3 weeks of paralysis, it just went completly limp!

Mike had an aneurism a while back so they went into his head too to fix it. I think it caused a little bit of brain scramble! He was quite "silly" for a while after that. I can make fun of him now about it but not back then, of course!

She is moving the arm some. They stepped it up yesterday in PT. It bends better at the elbow than shoulder. It is amazing how weak muscles can get if they are not used for a few weeks. Until her shoulder muscles strengthen to support her arm, it will be a challenge!
The arm remains a hassle, but No Seizures makes up for it!

Its been quite awhile since I put any update in here..... 2011 has been a difficult year! We found out in Early April that her tumor had recurred and after a biopsy, found out it was now grade 3 cancerous.. we have been through 2 rounds of radiation, steriotactic radiation and chemo since May. We found out last week that the tumor is not responding to the chemo and is progressing...
She will start a new course of 2 different Chemo's in a week or two. We have come back to Mississippi to stay with Family and get treatment down here. I have to travel a bunch so it will be better for her to be at her parents while i am out.... I'll be in and out of Mississippi a lot between now and Christmas..
