Last weekend I hit a rock with my 2006 LSV. The prop repair guy told me me the OJ 14.25 x 14 XMP prop had little chance of getting fixed. He also told me to check the drive shaft. I tried to check the total indicated run out on the shaft and think it is at least an 1.8" out. Anyone know what the going rate is to change out a drive shaft is? Any chance of straightening the shaft?

Thanks for the help

Not sure if there's much of a chance of trueing the shaft, heard for an DD was around 600 - 700, might be more maybe less for a V drive

Just changed shaft on an 04 Outback.. Parts were less than $500 for shaft. I did myself... Not sure about V Drive replacement... Not sure of how easy it is to get to transmission connection for shaft on V... I was quoted about $1000 for install with parts on my DD. Did myself and saved $500...1 day job... My guess is DD is easier than V Drive though..

Got my parts from Elberts.com Great folks, shipped same day.

It looks like it is over a $1000 to replace the drive shaft. ($400 in parts and $650) in labor. Not to mention the price of a new OJ prop. The dealer told me that they have to lift the engine and vdrive to get the drive shaft out. I guess my insurance rates will go up after this claim!

Thanks for the help.
