There are times when we of Scandinavian descent or influence will shout out "Okay" from time to time, 98% of the time I do say "Hit It!"

I'm with JesseC, "Aight". The wife is another story, she has to tell me all of the issues she is having at the time so that if she doesn't get up for some reason, I know why. As soon as I get any resemblence of a positive response I have to hit it hard and fast!

Guy in water says troll (aka slack)

Driver says call it.

Guy in water says hit it, if two on knee boards then I need two hit its.

NOT go, go sounds like no so no can sound like go - that can go badly.

I have an uncle that was waterskiing back in the 70's that said "no" and the driver thought he said "go" and ripped his thumb off. So, on my boat it's "Hit It", or no go.

We always use "Ready". It is the most phonetically distinct on that we found.

We used to use "OK", but found that too many beginners said it repeatedly as they were preparing, trying to keep all the things that they had been told in mind. "Go" (and of course "no") also sound similar.

"Give'r" just sounds like gibberish, especially over the din of passenger chatter (which also has to be sqelched every once in a while, politely).

So, "Ready" it is.

BTW, "Ready?" is also a good thing to say to a bride as she is about to walk down the aisle, after explaining it as the last thing that an alien said just before gleefully draining Arthur's mind in "The Tick" cartoon series. I assume that that will work for anyone, yes?
