I just bought an 01 Outback Im getting some kind of chirping noise from the engine but it doesnt squeal like a loose belt. It just makes the noise for 1/2 a second and its extremely random and not that often I also have a problem with the throttle easing off, I guess this could be in the linkage. Im not sure its like it is too tight and if Im in choppy water I have to keep the throttle held down. Any quick remedies?

The chirp may be from the altenator....bearings could be going out, and you're hearing the 1st indication.
.
There should be a tensioner of sorts where your cables attach to the throttle lever. You may be able to snug that up to get the lever to stay in place.

Hope this helps
