I just went out to tighten the base screws for my 2007 Rad-a-cage tower. Out of 18 screws holding the entire tower against the fiberglass, 4 are free turning.

Does anyone know the gauge of screw they use. I will be replacing with bolts, washers and nuts. Also, the screw heads appear to be brushed aluminum, I would like to match, if possible.

Any input, other ideas, or shared experience would be greatly appreciated. Wakeboarding and surfing from the tower are discontinued until I can resolve this.

Thanks.

Actually, I believe they are stainless. They're stainless on me '04 OB, anywho.
.
Using a nut driver (a screw driver looking device that holds a socket) and a phillips head screw driver, I snugged up my tower mounting bolts, only enough to take the slack out da screws. To over tighten them may cause gelcoat cracks to get started and propagate.
.
Hope this helps

Tower is mounted with threaded SS screws through the hull and secured on the underside with nylon locking nuts and backing plates. Mine had several loose and 1 nut missing when new. Ditto what Butta says, don't overtighten.
