View Full Version : Aligning my steering wheel

Maybe I'm being a little too fussy but I'm one of those people who like things to be just so.

My '06 Outback tracks very true and I don't what to mess with that. But when going straight. the wheel is about 90 degrees counter-clockwise from straight up. Obviously it doesn't effect the performance. If it's simple to line up I'd like to.

When I take the Moomba logo cover from the center of the steering wheel, there's a nut right underneath. Can I just loosen that, straighten things out and snug it back down, or will I cause big trouble?

Thanks,
Lonnie

The wheel is splined, but yes you can pull it off, and then reposition it and snug the nut back on. I had my dealer do mine, but I had him do it by my eye and I was way off - torque steer is much more than I thought.

It will vary at different speeds also.I forget what size socket it is [7/8th?]but it is easy to do.Even while you are cruising
