View Full Version : Replace ski pylon with pop-up style on a v-drive?

Has anyone replaced their rear ski pylon (v-drives) with a pop-up style? Mine is about 20" total length - 10" below the engine cover and sticks up above the engine cover about 10".

I've got a friend with a Malibu that has the pop-up style which is very nice so that your whole back deck is flat. Great for the girls to go sun bathing, stacking up tubes, whatever you've got.

I'm considering trying to swap mine out for a pop-up style that would sit flush when not being used and wondering if anyone else has already done this and could offer some advice. I know my boat cover is designed to ride up on the pylon so that could pose a challenge. Other than that it doesn't look too tricky except for maybe finding one that would fit!

I looked into this as well. This is a standard feature on the Supras so I called the dealer to see if the one on the Supra could be installed on my Moomba. I was told that it could not.

If you find anything aftermarket, please let us know.

Thanks,

Al

('wrecking this thread)

I'm interested in this as well. Has anyone found an option for a pop-up ski pylon?

Actually I have a friend who runs a small machine shop who said he could build one for me since I've hit a dead end with this search. The downside is the cost of materials right now... My boat is still hibernating in the garage for a few more months so I kind of gave up on it.

If anyone is interested I could run it by him again and see if he'd be willing to build you one.

Im Interested! I thought of just taking mine off all together and just keeping it on board for the rare chance that someone wants to ski.......anybody know any downsides to just removing it all together?

I'm definitely interested, but I don't want to spend a small fortune.

PM me and let's talk about costs and logistics.

I just realized that I had an old profile (grberglund) but I'm using Bergermaister actively. Anyway, I just emailed my buddy so I will post another response when I hear back from him on the custom built pylon.

This "buddy" has apparently fallen off the face of the earth. I learned he just went through a divorce a few months ago and I haven't been able to get any response out of him. Sorry guys...

Has anyone asked SC if they make one that can be installed? This last week i ended up falling on mine and now want to install a popup one.
