Swim platform step

Has anyone had any experience with this style swim platform step on their boat? It works like the ones on the back of a wave runner/jetski/pwc. I wonder if the leverage it would have from being so long would be an issue with the platform? Otherwise, it looks simple and neat.

Never seen that in action . . . the video does not make it look that sturdy. But that observation could be 100% wrong.

Most folks that need support getting into the boat are probably older or bigger.

Looks like a pretty simple solution. I'd like to add a step but want something that will help the dogs as well.

For all of you that have added steps...
1) are you just using 1" SS screws and pre-drilling?
2) should there be adhesive and if so 5200 or the weaker kind?
3) does the standard ladder affect anything while cruising, surfing, boarding, etc?

This looks like a nice solution to a problem I'm starting to have. Getting old sucks.

If I were to add that step, I would feel better if it had a longer, and very stiff, c-channel base attached that would extend all the way out to the edge of the platform. I just think this step would create a large moment, or leverage if you will, at the attachment point and possibly crack or tear through the platform over time. Especially with heavy people using it. Which let's face it, the young kids don't need it. It's us older, heavy out of shape crowd that need one.

I wasn't talking this step directly, but any steps on the platform. Just wondering how to attach correctly. That older, out of shape comment kinda hurt..... lmao

A lot of people just use 5200 and lag screws and seem to do fine. I think the 5200 is doing the brunt of the work. When I had my Max I bout a telescoping ladder with the intent to install it. I was contemplating through-bolting vs 5200 and lag screws. If you through-bolt you’ll likely want to order new gatorstep unless you don’t mind looking at countersunk fasteners and washers, but who wants to look at that. I’ve never heard of one failing with the 5200 and lag screw method.

Or the most expensive of all, order a new boat with the power step lol. I will say it is VERY nice to have and we use it every single time!

I'm with you HAK on the new boat idea. The BOSS has even approved this!
I have found a few 2024 left overs and now 2025 left overs are coming around with deals. I have a plan to make this work, but it's either upgrade now or have no mortgage in 18 months.

Also, very hard to spend the coin only having a 12 week season in the north.

I found a couple 24 SA demo boats but I have to travel. Since the 25 re-design they are willing to deal.

I really want an SL to match my MOJO size but thinking the SA isn't far off.

I found a 23 SA with 32hrs for 129k demo but it was missing a few option I would have to add. Major being surf exhaust. And the 23 doesn't come with a "old guy" step option so has to be 24.

I'm sure most of these are getting sold quickly but I know the market is not as aggressive anymore.
