Happy new year everyone.

I know most have made their way to FB and this site doesn't get the love anymore.

Anyway, with it being winter and Ohio getting snow this year, it is time to make summer plans. Just booked the Norris trip for August. Wasn't sure if if there were meet up plans for Supra/Moomba folks.

Also, taught my daughters to snow ski this year. Hoping these skills transfer to fiinally get behind the boat this year and enjoy it as much as the wife and I do.

See you and enjoy the rest of winter. Only 3 months to spring!

I am staying here as I don't really like the FB group that much.

Sadly, those snow skiing skills don't translate to waterskiing very well. We have a family of excellent skiers, but mediocre water-skiers. Perhaps the spirit of adventure and daring translates though.

Eventually, I hope to make my way to Norris as it looks pretty magical. Though I have a houseboat at Lake Powell, which is really the best, it would be nice to have a great week at a lake where there are restaurants, lake homes, boat houses, etc. where I don't have to worry about anchoring a massive houseboat in a manner that a it won't get blown away when the inevitable 40-50 mph gusts hit.

I'm going through withdrawls so bad, every day I walk into the garage and see my boat I let out a big sigh! It's so bad that I literely spent about 5 hrs last night scowering different boat websites looking for an old Mastercraft Prostar 190 for skiing lol. I'm not getting rid of the Craz but I'd love to have a little ski boat to run up to the lake with early in the morning for a quick ski.

My neighbor has one in his driveway I have never seen move. I keep looking for used Boston Whalers or similar that I can take to Powell and bump into rocks and beach without worrying about my prop. The biggest drawback to these V-drive boats is the difficulty shoring the boat, since I am too paranoid to even think about putting the bow in the sand or close to rocks.

Good to hear I'm not the only one walking to the barn just to see and touch my boat.
I thought I might be slightly insane but seems "normal" now.

Zog, I'm with you on the skiing. Not looking for skill transfer just the adventure and risk taking part to get a little stronger.

Anyone see the new MCraft X-Star redesign online? Or should it be called the Mastercraft Paragon?

I was on the lake last fall and noticed a very different looking boat coming from the MC plant that looked like a G. It had different tower speakers from what is offered now, but was pretty sweet-looking moving down the lake.

Curious to see how many they make at that price tag.

cucv
01-17-2025, 12:27 PM
I saw it at the boat show, like you say very similar to the Paragon. I hope for MC it's a super reliable boat to meet the clientele expectations that shell out that much $. I find it interesting the boat at the show and pics online don't have a Bimini. I've only seen a rendering with Bimini.

The X-Star has always been expensive but now they only have to build 25 units because that is the limited market with the Paragon and Pavati as their competitors.

Cannot not be too many people reaching $500k for a seasonal toy. To keep that price it has to be limited.

Sounds like a boat that a super yact owner would have sitting on top in a cradle, or inside the rear launch bay.

I think sitting in the boat (in the shop) in the middle of winter is perfectly normal! I was just out yesterday plugging in a bulb to warm the engine compartment as we are hitting the mid 20's overnight and my shop is not insulated - and I haven't winterized once in the last 8 years. Popped open the cooler and Yahtzee! Still full of beer. LOL Our summer ended so abruptly I didn't get around to emptying it out - thankfully all full ones. Well, at least they were a day ago

I'm going to hit overnight lows at -9* F tonight.
I have to winterize but yes sitting in the boat, turn on the tunes and just dream of warm breeze and the smell of the lake.

Our south Georgia Lake is actually getting snow tonight in this freak winter storm! Of course, most of the town is shut down because the majority of what has fallen so far is ice.

Is anyone else pondering some upgrades this year? I spent some time in the boat thi weekend mounting up some under Bimini Board racks and took some measurements for some other upgrades.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20250205/383228dd4f0bb9b048d9e32b6ef18d04.jpg

Those are nice board racks. I use the bimini board straps (top-side) on my SL all the time. Bought surf socks so the board do not sit in the sun too lonb.

Man I’m hopeful to finally get my boat back soon from the dealer after some warranty fixes. Killing me not having it in my storage unit and not out in the elements on the dealer lot. :(

In the meantime only mod Ive done is have Josh Nance make up a swim platform cover for me. He hadn’t made one for the newer boats so he made adjustments where he though and luckily was in the area to drop it off. Since I did t have my boat, he test fit it at the local Supra dealer.

Once I get my boat back I’ll get to see how it fits, but it looks pretty good to me! The material, craftsmanship, and stiching are top notch and not some cheap fabric. I had one of his covers on my Max and it was great too.

Is that a Sunbrella fabric?

Not sure on the exact material. It feels thick like the OE cover. When he did the cover for my Max I want to say it was same material as my Moomba cover.

I checked the box on the platform cover last year when we had ourMojo built. I still like Teak swim platforms and plan to build one this year and figure the cover will help keep it looking good.

First post in a while for me, have been awful busy with work, hope everyone is doing great, looks like I may fund myself in a location much further south and looking forward to an extended season !!

I am also not a fan of FB groups- when someone asks a question 90% of the responses are from folks who have no idea/knowledge/experience, but yet give an answer. So the person asking the question has to sort thru too much bull***t to find the right response. Yes lots of good info out there on FB, but too much noise.

I am also partial to forums- I am a member of a motocross forum (VitalMx) and it is very much alive and well and the go to place (over FB).

100% Here's a great example I read the other day.

Question: How to I run and weight my 2017 SE to get max from the surf wave?

Answer: Well, I weight my 2018 SA like this . . . . and do this . . . . and this is a pic of my surf wave.

As I read this, I'm thinking:
1) The surf systems were changed from 2017 to 2018 and
2) The SE and SA are very different boats.

Totally agree. I just got on Facebook in general and I hate it. I have resisted until just a few months ago, but got on for Marketplace only. Of course I jumped on the Supra / Moomba page as I assumed it would interest me. Based on reading the posts and threads for a month, for every correct or decent response, there are 50 garbage responses. I will get my info from this group. I just wished the Taptalk app still worked. Do you all use an app on your phone to read this forum?

Yes. I believe you are right. Oddly enough I tried to upgrade to the paid version some time ago, and it kept giving me an error when I tried to upload the payment information. So I just said screw it, and have been using the free version for years now. I think the paid version may let you upload better pictures too. Not sure. But the free version has been working fine for how I use it. Ads aren't too bad, though they all seem to be pretty corny.

You are right, I am reminded of that when I had some friends from south Texas come up to Canada last year in late August…. They really didn’t jump into the lake, even though it was almost at it’s warmest and with triple digit air temps!

Sounds good. We do the 3/2 shortie suits and make sure the driver does not keep us in the water too long on pick-ups and launches.
