Anyone still boating out there? Not much posting going on here. We have had really warm weather the last week so we ran up to the lake for a quick ski Saturday morning. Water temp was 64 and air about 60. We brought the wet and dry suits just in case but we all braved the cool water and went without. Water was smooth! Lots of beautiful colors in the mountains made for a beautiful backdrop.

We had some unseasonally warm weather on Tuesday 9-26. It was over 90 air and 70 water temp. Had to be on the water for that.
My knee has been feeling pretty trashed ever since week #2 to Whistler bike Park in mid September. So I didn't even bring the foil or wakeboard Tuesday. [emoji26]
But even feeling gimpy, I can at least surf... https://youtu.be/w72Q7RBnbl8?si=yIbFH4xcFZfpMqsD
Thought about going out this weekend but wasn't super motivated for Sunday-funday, so just stayed home and tore into the Jeep... https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240930/530b1aa45e0b6981e5b6c1f6d52d0233.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240930/517a684d0a0bb0a4cb6158b2df692563.jpg

Knoxville did not get it bad per the hurricane, but the areas East (TN/NC border) of here got hammered as many have seen on the national news. Sad times for those mtn people w/o power, water, and the basic necessities. But the TN and NC people will be helping their neighbors.

Keep saying I wish we could get out one more time but nope... I noticed no September pics thread and thought wow - that's a first. Well maybe not, but felt like it!
Maybe a polar bear run is in order this year. I can finally try out the dry suit I seem to forget buying in a drunken stuper watching Chasing Mavericks a few years back...

I have only seen 1 wakeboat-a new nautty-in the last couple of months. it's been quiet here in sin city. even the monthly trips to visit the parental unit in bullhead city az I have not seen the typical river packed with lake lice.
found out my neighbor in this new house i'm in has a boat and he has only been out once this entire year(it's an older bayliner i/o).
the economy here in sin city is not stellar right now being tied with the highest unemployment in the nation which, imo, is not helping with disposable income and gas has been $4 all summer long.

Even though Knoxville did on get hit, the water is pouring through the TVA system. Douglas Lake/Dam is above us and that lake rose 20' in a few days. All that water is going to flow though our area on its way downstream. The river is brown with plenty of logs, trees, and islands of debris floating downstream.

Ohio was not busy this year either.
Several people new to the wake boat scene in my local lakes but they weren't regulars through the summer.
I didn't make it out as much either but it was just the season. Too much other stuff going on I guess.
Economy is struggling. I have been seeing "toys" for sale everywhere. Looks like the covid money is running dry.

We have folks without power around us who will be out for weeks. We were lucky and got restored in 5 days. Lots of wind damage. Georgia Power said this is the most damage they have had in the companies history. But from what I have seen, Ashville and other areas in NC and SC may be worse!

High of 79 today, water temp 65. Got done with work at 4pm on my 1 work from home day. At the launch by 430pm, and saw the river was smooth enough on the main channel to start riding right from the launch. My knee still isn't feeling good enough to wakeboard, but the surf therapy felt good. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20241002/766b66c6f5f24843c0533f8dbff56a76.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20241002/3b359f3a818743a5e365c68e83a6f297.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20241002/8c1f25fa2e15f3bbf93c6de76b07cb18.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20241002/fc58b3e4f29d1bb3327e5b28efbb56bc.jpg

Our water level dropped to winter drawdown levels prematurely due to drought conditions, so I haven’t used my boat in 1.5 months :(. Water level has risen some due to hurricanes passing through. I’m not sure if I’ll get out again so we sadly might just winterize earlier than normal :(. That’s why I haven’t posted much.

Wife has had some health issues that have sidelined us since The Moomba Supra meetup on Norris. We came home a day early from that and have been out once since. With the lake thebway it is right now due to flood waters I may just go ahead and winterize and hit her with some wax and call it good.

Facebook just opens up the gates for tons of people to comment on things they absolutely know nothing about. Also, bots seem to just make random comments about posts that don't do anything but take up space. I hate it.

We had a great year with our 24 Mojo. My daughter finally got the bug and wanted to ride as much as my son and I. Got in some Father-Daughter mid week boat rides and am looking forward to turning those to surf sessions next year when she turns 16.
We had several new wake boats on the lake this summer and met some great folks at a wakeboat get-together. Lots of Axis and Malibu folks asking about our Moomba and Moomba/Supra dealer experience. I'd expect to see a few new Skiers boats on the lake next year.
I think our surf season came to an end this week. A neighbor saw our boat come off the lift on his security camera earlier this week. Ran up to get the boat in the dark. Boat lift worked fine but pulled the boat til I could investigate further this weekend. Draw down is in 2 weeks and my son broke his arm in a soccer game last night.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20241003/2b0b522c890ae62b2519fe27c87fffd4.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20241003/1ec31077e16d7a5b10839e7aef3b64f4.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20241003/3aa65c5a6c2706538598261485990809.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20241003/1636bc78981a8940c4b8e014b04728ea.jpg

How do you like the E-pex tower?
The video of it folding down looks clunky.

Almost trapped under it while folding.I was super excited to get this boat and tower and wanted to put out a review. The tower has fallen short of my expectations, and I am disappointed in the slow response to getting the issues resolved before putting out a review. I've been waiting over 2 months for parts that should be in stock and quick to deliver. In addition, I've been working on getting solutions for 2 other issues.
The issues don't keep us off the water but are super annoying. Once resolved, the tower will be great.
You don't have to put the tower down as shown in the videos. I tilt it back, put the Bimini down, come out from under the tower. Yes, you have to come out from under the tower but I liken it to putting the cover pole in the bow.

Douglas Lake. Most of those smaller TN/NC rivers that got washed out in the storm empty into the French Broad River > To Douglas Lake > To Tennessee River (Ft Loudoun Lake).
So much debris, the TVA is putting a mile long boom to hold the debris from going downstream.

We lost power at my house for 5 days, but I still have friends and family that will be out for at least another several weeks. Lots and lots of houses with big long leaf pine trees on and in them, but again, fortunately not mine. Around it and in the yard ,but not the house. This is definitely the largest damage from a storm path to ever hit here. Georgia Power said it's the most devastation in their company history. There are thousands of crews here working from other states, too. Hats off to all of them. Linemen are becoming the new military soldier. Lots of respect. But, now that I have power and internet back up, I feel we are extremely fortunate compared to what I am seeing in North Carolina. Particularly the Asheville region. From what I see, that build back will be years. And I don't see how they will ever get all the debris and vehicles removed that have washed down into some of those mountain streams and lakes. Access is virtually impossible. Wind is definitely a destructive force, no doubt, but water is worse. And when you combine both, nothing can withstand it. I pray for all of them.

I did some volunteer work several times this week. Got together with some of my friends with pickup trucks and trailers to drive supplies to areas in TN and NC.
Lots and lots of local supplies getting to that area. This AM (Saturday) there was a big convoy of trucks and equipment heading that way. Small churches are doing great jobs of being supply centers. Not sure how much support from the Feds, but not sure what the Feds really can do unless they focus on the bigger stuff - water treatment plants, roads, bridges, etc.
Drove home via the NC mountains, NW of Asheville. Pretty sad to see how the force of the water mangled anything in its path. Roads were cleared and the rivers are down, but it was eerie driving down roads adjacent to the rivers, looking up to see debris 20-25’ high stuck in the trees. So much water, hard to imagine.

I've seen a few creative fixes driving through those areas. One area had small river with a washed out a bridge where the road lead up the side of the mountain. The locals used two 18-wheeler flatbed trailers across the river to make a temp bridge. They built a little platform in the middle of the river and put big boulders around the wheels where the water could run under the trailers. It might not last on the next big rainfall, but for a temporary fix to get supplies to remote areas, I give it an A+.
Later that night I noticed on social media someone else in another area doing the same thing. The "word" must be traveling around on how to use what you have to make a situation better.
PS - I was glad I did not have to travel on it.
