Another month of summer in the wraps.

We’re down for a week on Lake Martin and always enjoy the glassy conditions compared to the weekends. The place we’re renting has a nice view. Wished the dock was a little bigger too but overall a pretty chill place to relax with the fam and dog.

Installed some LEDs I had laying around from my last boat and figured I’d install them while we’re down here. Plenty bright to light up the cockpit when it’s dark.

Looking good! I also have some blue LEDs laying around from a previous project. I will probably give them away to someone who can use them.

Is it just me or does it feel like July 4th was just here. July was faster than normal this year. School is starting up again.

Yea it’s flown by this year! Daughter starts back school next week so we always try and schedule a week vacation at the lake as one last trip for her and the fam.

I’ll swap these for RGB eventually but it’s nice having them while we’re down.

Going by fast….

Spending more time on the lake than posting…. The work on the wave and understanding AW seems to be paying off….

Ballast relay module is fixed and we are up and running again!! Thanks Drew, SC and Skiers Marine for getting us fixed in time for our vacation.

I’m still rocking my same wave setup I changed to late last year. Good size, shape, and power throughout. I even got a few floaters and Ollie in yesterday. My legs stay on fire with this wave lol. Here is some 1440p video…

Was finally able to try and surf my boat. Busy day on Norris so not great water but was able to drop the rope at one point. Not bad for my 3rd try in two years. I usually wakeboard but got wrecked a few days earlier on that.

Swung through the SC tie-up but didn't stop as we had to get the boat out to get home.

From the looks of the boot on that ski I am guessing that ski is somewhere around 15 yrs old? Time to give in and buy a new one lol. You won't believe how much skis have changed/improved. I broke down about 3 yrs ago and got a nice Radar ski and holy cow it is such an improvement. Not to mention the boots are so much better as well. Money well spent if you still like to get out and ski a lot.

Scott, your correct its an old one at this point, but still worth attempting to save it, plus I'm cheap. I normally don't ski very often but here lately been picking it up more and more especially when the water is glass. Probably time to invest in a newer one. Been so long since Ive looked at a ski, any recommendations on one?

I am no expert by any means on skis but most of the guys I ski with use Radars and have loved them. I bought a Radar Senate Alloy a couple of yrs ago and love it. The Radar Lyric and the Union are probably a step down but still great all around skis for open water skiing. If you look around you can usually find a close out on last yrs model for a few hundred off.

Pitch it. You catch an unexpected edge and you'll be fixing more than your ski. Skiiers should also check all of the fasteners and screws periodically.

I caught a bad edge on a ski with the boot adjusted too tight and wound up wearing a different kind of boot for 12 weeks :-D

Mine was torn ligaments and the tendon on th outside of my ankle pulling away and taking bone with it. Would up with microfracture to reestablish the tendon. It is mostly better but I have a numb spot on the top of my foot still 10 years later. That water sure was glassy though! I haven’t waterskied as much since then.

Radar does make great skis, I own a Senate and a Vapour Lithium. The lyric is the same shape as the Senate but with a bit more flex as it is designed to slay the lake as a women’s ski.

The Snake River in that part used to have line up sticks on the shore. You would line up the two sticks and then look for the next set of sticks. I never went up there much except in someone's jet boat. Great beaches there and the pictures brings back memories.

This season I went with bombproof SS thru hulls.

The downpipe to me homemade surf pipe kept breaking (ever 1 to 2 seasons) right at the place the threaded coupler went into the cleanout tee, so I sleeved it with an outer silicone coupler this time. I've lost at least 3 aluminum downpipes at the bottom of the lake/river due to broken threaded couplers... https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230824/4bcec3446565a3cbb675427c4e443451.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230824/dc9f409771a57b7f602a8440d4b3ea37.jpg

I'm looking right now. Did you just run doubles or two sets for quad fins?

I had run a set of futures, I don't remember what, on an old Ronix Carbon Thruster, ran all 4, and you practically had to stand on the tail the whole time to keep it from running into the back of the boat is was so fast. Wish I could remember what they were.

Not sure I follow you with the line up sticks? We were the only wakeboat venturing up there. Mostly jet boats, and a few tooners. Back where the Clearwater river meets the Snake is quite interesting too. The Snake above that point was averaging 74. The Clearwater however was a whopping 53.6! Brrrr - combine them together and it was about 71 downstream, not bad. We've jumped in the Clearwater before on these hot days and you literally jump right back out.

Stock fins I've tried f2, f3, f4 are all pretty bland.

I never liked quad since I felt like the rear tracked so straight I might as well have had a sailboat sized keel...

When I was playing with fins, the blackstix and JJG were the go to options. I liked the JJG enough that I stopped experimenting. So haven't ridden any others.

Things haven't changed. Dworshak dam (700 foot high) lowers the reservoir a foot a day after the July 4th weekend to flush salmon and steelhead at the colder temperature down the Clearwater. The markers allows you to follow the channel. They were white sticks that weren't always obvious and they may not be there anymore.

We’ve been missing the water now that school and sports started back up, but snuck away for an evening this weekend. Got my son to drop the rope for a bit and rode around with my daughter for awhile...

Need some rain here soon because it’s going to get a little dicey getting the boat off the lift with these low water levels!

Trayson,
What surf system do you have on that XLV? You don't look very listed but the wave is clean.

Trayson,
What surf system do you have on that XLV? You don't look very listed but the wave is clean.Yes, we've worked hard to have a clean wave. The picture above from a couple days ago is actually my backup homemade suck gate.

My normal setup is as follows:
- Port rear 1100 bag full
- Starboard rear 1100 bag 60%
- Silly carpeted trim piece in the rear lockers was removed to allow bags to fill more in the front of the lockers
- Center 1180 gravity games bag full
- 400 bag under port side seats full
- 400 bag in port front seat locker filled from batteries as far forward as they'll go (probably 250#)
- 3 big lead acid group 34 batteries
- the smaller of the surf.Mode Maverick wings on the Starboard about at the cleat
- 10.0 to 10.3mph on paddlewheel perfect pass because we're usually in a river with current.
- always start every day with a full tank of gas
- custom surf platform that doesn't cut into the surf wave.

This pic is with the normal surf.mode wing and only 2 people in the boat (about 280lbs for both).

I had to use my homemade backup suck gate last time because our surf.mode one is gone. No idea what happened to it or where it went, but Bryan is taking care of me so we'll have a replacement before the holiday weekend. [emoji1690] The surf. Mode is definitely better than mine. [emoji106]

I am still holding strong to my opinion that your gelcoat colours are the best I have ever seen. They say imitation’s the sincerest form of flattery. Straight up, I am specing my next boat colours just like yours!

Adding the metalflake vinyl wrap does help make it pop a little more too!

Gotta say this colorway is timeless. Tony Iacconi's Paragon is fire.

Good thing. Because there's not a new boat in my future.
