We finally made it out first time this year. Was a bit windy to start, but made for great boat naps. But finally found some good water towards the evening. Waters still a bit on the chilly side but warming up. A nice weekend for sure.

What’s the water temp in AL Hak ?

73-74. If I had a wetsuit I’d be in there getting some surf action in.

Hak looks like you had some nice weather to get out, just needs to warm up a bit. Our water was 67 still. Looking forward to the weekend but now its showing rain all weekend, which we need but Id rather it rain in the middle of the week

Yes. Weather timing is everything, but it somehow never jives with the working mans calendar!

72 on Tim’s Ford when we launched Sunday. Didn’t have time to get in (with wetsuit) so will possibly try this coming weekend.

Since I lost my plain galvanized slide box anchor last year to the depths of Lake Martin it was time to get a new one before the season kicks off. This time I went with a vibrant color to hopefully make it easier to find if I need a diver to retrieve it lol. I didn’t realize it would have flake in it!! Almost too nice to want to toss into rocks lol.

Just some friendly advise....the screw on clevis comes loose over time. Quick way to throw a box anchor out and get nothing but the leader pole back. You can run stainless steel wire through the wing nut eyelet and create a locking fasener.

Don't want to loose that 1, it is super fancy and the flake is a nice touch. Did you get a bag with yours?

haknslash

LMAO at the lure. I probably could catch a marlin with it :D

I lost my old one last season because I was stupid and used a carabiner for the eyelet. Don’t ever do that. Went to toss it out and didn’t realize the carabiner had got stuck open and well, down she went without the rope attached lol. That mistake won’t happen this time. I used a heavy duty wire tie to lock the screw in last time and it seemed to work. Safety wire would be better than a heavy duty wire tie so I’ll go that route this time since it’s a little more pricey and nice looking lol. Yea I got a bag with it but chose blue instead of the gray I had last time, so at least the blue bag will kind of go with my blue boat heh. Totally contrasting colors, I know, but just wanted to change it up.

Went out with Knoxmojo last week on the mighty Ron Burgundy and got ropeless on the port wave finally. Still riding goofy which is unnatural having your back to the wave. But making progress!

Looking good. It feels strange to ride with your back to the wave and have it lift up on your heals. I need to work on my transfers more this summer.

Hak thats one fancy looking anchor. Im digging the green flake.

Took the Makai out this weekend with my daughter and some of her friends. Everything went well except for my reinforced middle engine divider popping out over the channel on my port side. Yes , reinforced with 2 c-channels too. Just the middle section. Strange...I am going to have to figure out why. Maybe I didn't run the channel quite as far down as I should have. Not sure exactly why it did, but I didn't have time to dig into it this weekend. I heard the loud pop and knew exactly what it was. A quick lift of the locker hatch verified it. No harm done though. This is a pic of my daughter's boyfriend surfing for the first time behind the boat. He beach surfs, so his instincts were pretty good. Maybe I won't have to shoot him now![emoji28]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230522/88a4950d7f9106557e2dd04ed1676ef7.jpg

Honestly the shoot or not shoot would be more on if he can drive the boat. Less on if can he surf. [emoji23]

Went out yesterday and surprised that it wasn't near as busy as I expected out there. Got some foiling and surfing in. Wife got to try her new board out, had a great time and got off the water last night around 1130 last night after a fireworks show and a trip to a lakeside restaurant. Also got to check put my underwater lights not bad for stockers. https://i.ibb.co/sj6BHyh/IMG-4482.jpg (https://ibb.co/p2RmyJg)

We normally skip holiday weekends but wife and I had the day to ourselves without our daughter so off to the lake we went. We just grabbed a slough away from the chaos in the main channel and popular spots. Made for a relaxing day and water temps are rising quickly!

Why were you surprised? It was effing cold! When we rode at 730am, that was the warmest it was going to be all day. Most don't go out in the high 60s low 70s with overcast and wind to ride...lol. Especially when the day before was mid 80s.

Water temp was 74 in OH yesterday. It was go time for me. Of course I jumped in for a surf run 4 weeks ago and it was 58….that was a bit brisk, but with a wetsuit was tolerable once I got going.

Saturday wasn't cold till the wind picked up. I would have gone out today but had to get this breezeway project tied up. Sunday was chilly and I was beat. With the worst of this build behind me now I can focus on the posts and getting sheet metal for the top. https://i.ibb.co/gmQvmYR/20230529-185439.jpghttps://i.ibb.co/gmQvmYR/20230529-185439.jpg (https://ibb.co/jbqVbtr)https://i.ibb.co/k8R67gq/20230529-185431.jpg (https://ibb.co/zRyHMhP)

Memorial Day morning was shockingly quiet up on the lake in the morning. Ran up early to get a quick ski run in and be off the lake before it got crowded. Much to our surprise there were no boat around and the water was glass! Got a few great runs in.

The difference this makes for a session cannot be understated. Flat water, no wind is a completely different experience to a "regular day".

Absolutely, your confidence goes up 1,000% with some glass to ski on. Surfing and wakeboarding as well. Smooth water makes all the differensce....

Is that Jordanelle or Deer Creek? What are the water temps like right now? We went to Willard, but didn't get in until noon and it was super choppy. I did get to see an epic boat trailering mishap though. This guy in a jet boat was coming into the trailer crooked over the trailer fender and his buddy told him to back off. He hit full throttle instead, ran over the top of the trailer fender, flew through the air and hit the rear fender of his truck. A bunch of guys had to get together to lift the boat off the ramp and back into the water. It was one of those things I wish I had on video!

Definitely a must do! Unfortunately, if you do it once you tend to have to do it a bunch more times. My number of visits goes up by about one per year every 3 years or so. I will make 4 trips to Powell this year and it still won't be enough!

I keep telling my wife we need to rent a house boat and tow ours behind it for a week. Would be an epic trip.
