OK mechanics. Need some info here to help me repower my son's "free boat" on a limited budget. (Then I can reclaim my outback from him)
1. Is the crankshaft of a reverse rotating 350 Mercruiser MIE (1989 single seal) is identical to that in a standard-turning engine?
2. Are aluminum hypereutectic replacement pistons for a Chevy pickup truck application a reasonable choice for marine use?
Bonus question:
3. Why are piston marks facing toward the stern instead of bow on a reverse rotator? Is it simply to indicate / remind the mechanic which engine is the reverse rotator in a twin application.
