Figured no point in starting a March thread, just jump into April. Supposed to have the dealer summarize the boat this week. Going to get the lift electrical wired up in the next couple weeks. That's a new lift just put in mid-February. And, the garage coming along nicely. One 12' door and one 13' door. 40' deep x 30' wide with a 3 bedroom apartment up top. Hopefully will be done by beginning of June.

Going to be a great summer! Dock needed some work, so we decided to add a couple extra feet.

Also first day out March 30! Let's go! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230331/eef782aac6ee1561f4f6ba50f27e847e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230331/f8bba217e54061a18245c1a5d68d876a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230331/02600a5272a329ea9042f4d9320da4f3.jpg

I too have been busy building all fall and up until now. 30x 50 shop for me and the conversion of our attached garage into a hair salon for the wife. So glad I have a place to get my boat out of the weather and keep it nice and dry. My garage is almost complete, next weeks projects include sealing the floors, and stone masons finishing the front of my building. Put vinyl shakes on it this week, the million trips up and downcthe ladder damn near killed my legs.https://i.ibb.co/P1jhpdy/20230328-165421.jpg
https://i.ibb.co/9hrRHZT/20230311-181353.jpg (https://ibb.co/bFKp5bB)
Stone masons finally finished the front of our house too, wife is happy to have her salon finished and working, its nice for her to have place thats all her own and her clients have been nuts over it. https://i.ibb.co/z6MNhN0/20230329-201111.jpg (https://ibb.co/tLG3M3W)
As far as the boat goes, it sucks that my tower is inches from clearing door and I have to lower it my old garage had and 18 ft door and I had no worries of hitting tower. These doors are 12w x 10 h another 2 inches qould have gotten me in.

Just remove the light on top of the tower.
Unless you boat at night it isn't required.

HFarr
04-01-2023, 10:06 PM
You should make a little notch in the building at the top of the door for the light to go through! LOL! Really, you are right. It beats being in the rain/sun year round for sure! Lowering your tower is a minor deal.

Lowered the boat into the water for the first time this year. She cranked right up. Gonna wait a day or two till the water clears up a bit from all this rain, then give her a run. In the mean, gotta give it a good wipedown. Covers don't do much to stop pollen. We also traded in our 2006 vx cruisers for a pair of 2022 vx limited. Wife had to have something that matched the boat! LOL! Got to admit they do. Right down to the pecan colored seats.

It just got done yesterday.
I was going to buy a new boat. But I just can’t bring myself to do it, and spend another $20+k on stereo equipment and batteries etc.
we’ll see how this does.
$5400 total for the upgrade.
Certainly will make it easier to sell when that time does come lol

I’ll let you guys know my thoughts.
I’m gonna get it on the water this week for a shakedown run.
Other than I can already tell you, someone is definitely going to scrape their leg getting into the boat from the platform.
I will have to come up with something to remind people not to get up from the sides.
Yours may not be an issue depending on platform and hull.

My one comment from installing tabs on my previous Supra and playing around with them, you do not need that much ‘down-tab’ when making the wave.

Too much will cause the transom to lift and reduce the affect on the wave. Once you play around with them, you will find the sweet-spot.

Mine also needed a lot a back-end weight to get a clean wave.

Didnt realize I was losing all my underseat storage which is a big deal since we dont live on the water. Its a garelick, this one came from home depot was the cheapest instock price when I looked. Doubt home depot actually sells it. Probably just drop shipped from another vendor. This on is 15 I think? Under 100 bucks and makes a huge difference in visibility.

New ballast bags are all up in my heaters business. Didnt realize these bags took up all my under seat storage. Decided to build a box to separate heater from ballast. The divider panel was the start of it, used CAD(cardboard aided design) to determine shape of the hull . From there I traced the design onto a sheet of HDPE and cut it out. After a few test fits I had it ready to rock and hit the edges with a roundover bit to make them nice and happy. Added some brackets and screwed it in place. Not bad for an hours work. And now my heater is protected from the ballast bags. Dont need to be popping any holes in them. https://i.ibb.co/D1fnG2g/20230413-132751.jpg (https://ibb.co/10GxsWJ)

Have not tried it when filled. Yesterday was the shakedown run for the new boat and that wakemakers bag was all over my heater and prompted this project I hope this keeps the bag off the heater and away from sharp edges. I bought a 4x8 sheet of hdpe this morning at a place in town called polymer shapes. They do cnc routing and fab work with plastics. Had a custom windscreen for a Centurion in their showroom so they may be my go to when I do my windscreen project. As is the bow filler cushion worked pretty well as a windblock yesterday. Building a two piece top is the next project so I can store my anchor in there

We get the new ride set up for tasty wakes, you'll be wanting to hit them. About that time bro.. tip, if your ballast bag is pushing hard into your new partition, fold part of the bag under on the end and it won't fill

Heres what I built for the shop today along with my youngest son. Wake surf rack and and lifejackets drying rack to get all our crap up off the ground. He drilled all the holes and sanded everything down so it would be nice and smooth. I glued in the dowels and mounted it. Only problem was I didnt measure for my short boards and they dont fit yet. Version 2.0 in the works and my wake board and short boards should be safe and secure by the weekend.https://i.ibb.co/C6NMHqZ/20230418-205936.jpg (https://ibb.co/0K8FGkS)

I broke out the foil and got back to work and after a couple tries remembered how and what to do on it. First time I fell two guys on a jetski launched across our wake and I looked up and saw them as they were flying right at me. Neither one of them saw me until the last second and the driver broke to my left and went around me. They circled back to tell me they didnt see me and asked if I wanted a ride. I was so mad I wanted to jerk them off that ski and sink that stupid thong to the bottom of the lake. Man I was hot and now my poor wife is terrified that her worst nightmare almost came true. Kinda ruined the fun for sure. Felt good to get the foil going again, cant wait for the summer!

That’s really frustrating. I know the feeling. I don’t mind wakes being jumped when just moving without a surfer or skier but if someone gets close while we are towing I also get pretty pissed off.

If we get the lake lice jumping wakes, we take a few minutes and just shut it down and they usually get the message and stay away.

I like how your bags are folded and nest. The first time out every season, I'm adjusting what seems like all day.

I usually inflate mine with air to get them to fit right then suck it flat with a shop vac.

I do the same even when just cruising. I won’t give them the satisfaction.

My reasoning is an acquaintance was riding with a friend on a pair of jet skis passing an oncoming boat in a narrow channel and slowed down not looking to jump the boats wake. As they passed, a ski coming from behind the boat jumped the wake, whiskey throttled and ran into both skis. The boat he was following took off. Three bodies floated in the water for 10 min until another passing boat found them.

The partner of our acquaintance died, and rider of the errant ski lost a leg. Our acquaintance developed PTSD, a substance abuse problem, and still won’t go on the water anymore.

I'm conflicted on this. On one hand, I really enjoy seeing people hit my wake safely and having a blast. On the other, I worry bc I don't know their skill level/ safety awareness/etc. Obviously, it's 100% a no-go if I'm pulling anyone.

I've got a seadoo and when we take extended lake trips, I have my wife or dad drive the boat and fill it up from surfing and send it to the moon! But it's all my own stuff...

That particular boat had a 540 and a blower (TBS 8-71) I believe…. And we heard the blower surge from idle across the lake…. It sounded intoxicating!

Belonged to a great guy who was there with his grandson (the burgundy boat below)

Here’s a better shot of the motor and the other boat

Ive always had a thing for that style of jet boat, grew up near a lake that would have a ton of them during the summer….. and now it has me scanning the internet for one lol

come down here to havasu/bullhead city. they are everywhere. laughlin to needles and the parker area are where they hang on most weekend when the wind isn't blowing. my uncle has one with a N/A BBC in it. loud AF...
I see hulls pretty regularly here that can be had for a couple grand. upholstery is cheap. cost is the motor/diverter/jet drive.

something to drool over... can't even imagine the specs on that cam...

Power to the dock/lift completed yesterday. Building coming along. Can’t wait to spend my summer nights here. Once I get the boat in there or on the lift I will actually upload a boat pic. I was able to get out on a buddy’s VLX last week for my first set. Shoulders super sore, but since recovered.

Wing is soo much bigger than my infinity wing bolted it on and triedit out yesterday. In the midst of 30 mph winds I was not able to fly it sucessfully. Thankfully there are no pics of my sad attempts to get this wing going.

It is really fun to get to the lake. What was not so fun was to see how low the water is at the moment and to see that we may have the same problems with staffing at the marinas on the north end of the lake. We have three trips scheduled this year and are really excited for what that brings.

brad460 - the lawn looks beautiful. I've always like the striped lawn look.

rhouse181 - great looking dock and lift. I always wanted a covered lift, but our lake doesn't allow them. So I just built a giant garage and I'll pull it if there is bad weather in the forecast. Plus gives me a spot for our short winter for storage.
