View Full Version : 2018 MAX sale price?

Hey,
Sad day but we have to put the 18 Max up for sale. The market is odd right now as we all know. One person in Cali has one listed for 85K and one person in Ohio has one listed for 65K. Do you think posting it for 78K to start is ridiculous?
368 Hours
Wake Makers rear / side upgrade
upgraded surf prop
Wet Sounds towers with control unit
Rockford amp and 10" sub

Should have one year of warranty left, I need to contact the dealer to see when it expires exactly.
We are original owners always stored inside and very sad to have to let it go.

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

It feels weird to me listing it for way more than you paid for it, but I guess that's what's been happening.

I test drove a 2018 Max with upgraded trailer wheels, wetsounds towers, upgraded pumps, and the upgraded wake makers ballast bags... It was under $70k with just demo hours on it.

tray, was that this year? we sold our 1yr old tige r23 in may of '21 for 10k more than we bought it for the prior july in 24hrs. had almost a half dozen offers in that 24hr period. cousin is selling his '22 supra sl for what he paid for it end of last season. tyrell has had several interested in it.

OP- list it and see what comes up. worst case you get a lower offer and if you like it, take it. season is ending quickly in the west tho so timing is everything.

Oh no. I tested the 2018 Max at the end of that season before the pandemic started even. It's when prices for a new max were high 60s and low 70s.

I saw the exact boat that I test drove a while back for like $85k or more. It was crazy to think I could have bought that boat, used it for 3 years and sold it for a profit of $15k.

That is what I am thinking. I just know some will be offended by the price but I am just feeling out the market and thought I'd ask around as well. Thank you!

if they are offended, tell them to move along-nothing to see here :)

we have sold 3 boats on onlyinboards and 2 sold during covid in 24hrs. post it up and see what happens. iirc it's only like $40 for the basic package and that's all I hav ever used. be prepped for lowball offers tho. I got quite a few and just hit delete... if they were stupid-low I didn't even reply.

Perfect, Thanks. I was going to ask that too. Craigslist seems dead these days and Facebook marketplace is a joke lol

I paid $78.5k out the door with taxes for our ‘21.

Get as much as you can! I think I saw a ‘18 Max listed for $84k.

I would start $85k-$90k. Good time of season. Lower in winter.

When did you get your max? Is it pretty well equipped? My dealer says he wont see pretty much any moomba under 100k anymore which is holding me back from upgrading.

Our ‘21 Max has mild upgrades to the boat and trailer- We ordered on Oct ‘20. I wasn’t charge freight or setup. We absolutely got a great deal right on the cusp of the market going crazy..

At $100k we are priced out of a boat we use ~30 hours a year.

I'd recommend working hard to sell the boat before Labor Day as sales start dropping off after that. The economy is rather strange now with a recession starting and record hiring. So what happened in previous recessions may not apply now. Put a price out there on the boat comparable to what you are seeing on line and the local area.

There isn't much to compare it to in the local area right now. But I agree, before Labor Day would be ideal. If I had it my way I would post it for 150K so it wouldn't sell at all lol!

Just sold my 19' for $66......I know I could have gotten $70 max, but it was priced to sell. Buyer came to CO from Idaho. Had at least 10+ cash offers after I committed to the nice family from Idaho. I had 680hrs on it. Try mid $70's if you want to sell it as its a harder time to sell boats at this time of year. Just my opinion. Also, try KSL classifieds aout of Salt Lake to list it. I had probubly 20 intrested parties in 2 days not spam. Salt Lake is a popular place for Moomba. All just my thoughts and relaying my experience last week.

Congrats on having 680 hours on a 3 summer boat. That is awesome and the memories/pictures will last a long long time.

We came from Reno to Meridian to buy our first Supra. It was worth it! Don’t discount the reach OnlyInboards, Facebook, and Craigslist will give you.

believe it sold as he talked about taking a 100k deposit earlier this week but that said... fully loaded SL including the 550 motor/full jl/thrusters and the such. 60ish hours with all service done. iirc msrp was 228k and I believe he was looking for 190k. only thing not upgraded were the trailer tires. they are 15" dual axle. didn't see the need to do 18's.

Considering the 23SL base price is $186k, that a hellagood deal.

What’s he getting next?

ya, someone is getting a good deal. it was a very nice boat. not sure what he's thinking next. he's had an r23, a 23zx and SL in the last 3 years and he said he enjoyed the price and overall value of the r23. the 23zx wave was crap so I know he's not heading back to a "premium" tige. the tige GO software is MUCH easier to use and run than supras so I would not be surprised to see him back in a year old r23. I told him to check out the mojo but they sat in a few 2021 moombas and were uninspired-why they landed in a supra.

I’ve got a build sheet for a 2023 Max that I’ve got a build slot on, moderately optioned for 113k out the door with tax. It also has stipulations all over saying they reserve the right to jack the price up further however they see fit up until the point I take delivery..

That’s what’s going to make it okay to sell a few year old boat for more than ya paid for her hahaha

it's been going on since mid2020 but my crystal ball says these increases are not sustainable and I bet the days of "boat flipping" are coming to an end by mid2023.
those that buy 2023's and expect to sell end of next year for more/equal to what they paid MIGHT be in for a surprise.
could be wrong and been wrong lots before but continued year over year increases are not sustainable.

I’d tend to agree with you, but the prices on wake boats have pretty much tripled since 2006. The people who bought and buried themselves in 06-07 took a bath for about 5 years into 2012.
However, pretty much anyone who has bought a wakeboat since 2012-2013, if they bought right. Have not lost. If we have another 2008 crash, I’d agree with you. But I think that’s about the only way.
Go back and read threads from 2016-2017 when people were astounded that a new Supra was $98k, and they couldn’t see it sustaining lol

Also, those who held who were not buried in 06-08, also on top.
If you have holding power, or buy right. You most likely will not lose

Agreed- At some point soon someone will be left holding the bag…rapidly rising prices and interest rates will tame the market soon. $113k for a boat I paid $78 OTD a year and a half ago is insane. Hard to comprehend..

I bought my Moomba during a recession at the end of 2001 and sold it in 2017 for what I paid for it. I bought my Winnebago motor home during the recession in 2009 for half of the MSRP and sold it earlier this year to close to the purchase price. In 2010, I bought a 2007 Jeep Wrangler with 17,000 miles for $13,900 and I still have it. Buying during a recession works well as long as you don't have anything to sell. I think the higher interest rates and the inflated prices will slow the market. Be prepared to jump on a deal. My best success was in Portland where I bought the boat in 2001 and the motor home in 2009 in January of those years. I bought from dealers as owners were asking too much to cover their loans. Buying new was also difficult as dealers couldn't discount as much.
