The title says it all. When I put it makes a squeak. Not every time but enough to notice and be annoying.

Any ideas or thoughts?

Thanks,

Packing seal
Loose coupler bolt
Dry throttle/shift cable

I’d add strut bearing to that list as well. Based on age of the boat it may be worn out.

Can you tell what area the squeak is coming from? At the shifter or back of boat? Does it do it when off?

It sounds like the back of the boat. It does not make it when off. It mostly does it like the first time you start it up. Not near as much when shifting in and out of gear like for pulling around a rider that is fallen and going for another ride.

Like hold and pat said, maybe a seal, packing, or something in that neighborhood. If you are noticing it when you first back it down to put it in the water when everything dry, after a little bit of water acting as a lubricant, the noise goes away. If you are backing it down off a trailer, or lowering it into the water after sitting up on a lift for a long time, that is why you notice it more with reverse. Just a theory...
