Anyone have good tricks to remove the marks made by the trailers roller? I hate the look of them but unsure how to get rid of them.

Thanks!

Try some 70% isopropyl alcohol.

Or

WD40

I am assuming you are referring to the bow roller residue.

Alot depends on the condition of your boat's exterior. The more weathered and porous it has become, the more that the rubber particles will be embedded into the surface. Sometimes chemicals will get it out but often there needs to be some form of abrasion. When we have a customer at the shop with this problem, we just go at it with a buffer and some rubbing compound. It's gone in about 10 minutes (https://likecleaning.com.au/gold-coast/end-of-lease-cleaning/)

Magic eraser is an fine grit sand paper. I don’t recommend on paint or gelcoat or vinyl.

If you have the black rollers then pitch them and get the non-marring type.

Denatured alcohol. But it will strip all the wax, ceramic, etc. coating off. You'll have to rinse quickly also.

Yup. The bow roller.

I’ll try these and see how they work.

I’ve tried a magic eraser before and it will work…with a lot of elbow grease. I just don’t want to damage the gel coat or coating or anything of the like.

If alcohol works, I’ll hit it with some spray wax afterwards.

Thanks!!!

I actually had some roller residue and alcohol removed it easily today.

Try putting a towel or wash rag around the roller if it's old. Might not look too cool, but it will keep it from marking up the boat.

How old is old? Haha. 2017 old?

Heck. I’ll just replace it if that’s the case, no? Still a great interim fix though, thanks!

I’ll be trying the alcohol this week.

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkThe towel would be for just a quick solution until you could replace it. My experience with almost any of the rubber bow rollers is they just don't last long and start marking the boat. But you never know how available a new one could be these days so.....

The Boatmate trailers use the transparent orange non marring and they still can mar.

If you trailer, expect a roller scuff.

They do make a stainless steel bow protector.

Paint thinner works well for roller marks/rubber transfer, but you must wax afterwards so only get the marks vs rubbing a big area.
