I’m amazed at how Wetsounds continues to push the envelope in marine audio. These new 12” tower speakers fill in that mid bass the Rev 10s just don’t generate. Heck, I’ve heard boats that produce less bass with an actual sub than these can easily pound out. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220629/17838bd8143b8b3e93b5bcfb74433ae1.jpg

Sweet....let us know how they sound. My Rev8's have zero low end. Would be nice to not have the sub up so loud while towing.

We always turn the cabins down so we can talk while the rider is enjoying the towers.

Interested how they sound compared to the 410.
Buddy of mine is picking up 2 pair to swap his rev10s. Can’t wait to hear.

I've been saying for years that rev10's suck terribly for bass/anytijng but shouty vocals and everyone gets all defensive and claims they are the greatest thing since sliced bread.
I'm laughing watching all the wetsounds fanboys say it aloud now that there's a decent option from wetsounds. (not saying you are one Brent, just in general)
Havent heard the Rev12's yet but I imagine they are much better.

I've got a set of KMTC11 kicker's waiting to be installed but life has gotten in the way.

Further you get away from them the better they sound. But on the swim platform or surf distance, they are brutal.
I’ve had rev10 twice. I’m very, very happy with the pair of 410s I have now. Wish I would have not made the rev10 mistake twice lol.

I agree about the Rev 10s. For surfing, I hated them. They came on the the new boat so I was gonna just live with them. Then, these 12s were released. Buddy owns a shop and has 2 pair on his Tige wired to two syn 4s. Gave me the seal of approval for these being worth the $2,600 spend. Had a buyer for the 10s for $1,600 (including clamps) so that helped.

Yep I anticipate a lot of rev 10's up on the used market here shortly.

I find the 10's fine for the surfer but they will make the whole boats ears bleed if they are loud enough for the surfer to enjoy.

I am confident these rock, but 12” speakers from a tower? Seems like a head bumper.

Already hit my head on 8.8”s

If the rev8 didn't come installed from the previous owner, I wouldn't have them.

There are other options that have a better sound curve so they aren't so brutal up close.
I run my 8's underpowered and the factory 6.5 roswell swivels up higher just to balance the sound.

Anyone know the going rate for 3yr old rev8's?

New Rev 12 HDs provide 0.54” more headroom than the previous Rev 10s.
They recessed the mounting surface into the housing.

Did you keep the same amp the Rev 10s were on?

I wonder how it would sound if you kept the 10's and added the 12's?

Like seeing the new ones come out especially with better sound, but I would end up knocking myself out on those :p I never catch the very bottom of the Rev10s but always the lower corners if you will where the grill screw is.

These don’t hang as low as the Rev 10s

Yes the htx 4 bridged. Tuned WAY different for these.

Would need another amp to run a pair and honestly don’t know what I’d gain keeping the 10s. We only surf and don’t need much but do want the full range of sound.

You have these installed already?

How is the sound? More full range less ping and high pass?

soo true.. I have said the same thing for years and all I get is bashed. WS hlcd drivers sound like $hit at close range and that's where most are at in a boating environment. the wakeboarder is the only one getting a decent sound with rev10's. I'd even argue they suck for surfers. MLA was pushing the kicker units to me a few years ago and after hearing them locally, they are 100x better than any WS pairings if your desire is hlcd's.

heard the rev12's were coming for a year or so and interesting to see they made it. with all the push to surfing anymore and that every lake in the country is after boating for wakes/loud stereos, I can't believe that WS didn't release a 12 with a regular dome tweet. that would get plenty loud enough for surfers but not be "that guy" at the party cove/around the lake.

Hear! Hear!
(Or maybe you can't because of your Rev's )

Depends on how they did the horn they may be just fine up close. The KMTC11 is perfectly fine even at close range.
I hope WS took note and toned down the horn a bit for the new 12's. From the reviews I've seen I think they may have (but haven't heard them)

I have not heard the new 12HD yet, hope to have mine next week. I plan to leave my rev-10 up and then mock up the 12's on the bench and do an A/B before I pull the 10's down.

The larger driver and larger pod alone would have improved the mid- to high balance, but they took further. This is not just a 2" larger Rev-10. Its all brand new inside and out.

While some do find the Rev-8/10 still on the harsh side, the Rev series was a huge leap in sound quality from the original Pro series.

Great review…. Anything new to add after a summer with them? Sticking with the same amp? Upgrading existing Makai Sub to fill in the cabin? Does the additional size continue to be a non factor?

I’m fine with them as is really. Certainly would like to upgrade but don’t feel the benefit outweighs the cost.

I would love to upgrade the sub eventually. Maybe add an AS-10 or even an AS-6.

Thanks a bunch for the reply…. My head is telling me to upgrade the Sub first and see how that fills it out, but there are no way my Rev8’s will probably keep up after that lol

Great video. I like the side/side of 10s vs 12s.
