Taking a family vacation for a week at High Rock lake in NC. The house we are renting has a dock in a nice cove.

No dock cover or boat lift. I’d (obviously) rather not deal with pulling the boat in and out everyday. And tips to keep the boat safe when leaving in the water for 5 days? Or, should I spend an hour each day getting it to and from the slip, pulling it out, etc.?

I would cover it overnight and leave it in all week.

Also make sure to have good bumpers in place between the boat and the dock. Give it a good cleaning when you get home. In my opinion, they are boats and made for the water. One week isn’t an issue, I personally would not wet slip all summer but some do that. I think you will be fine.

I leave my boats in the water all summer with no lifts and have never had a problem. A week is nothing. The Moomba gelcoats are soft so you will get some dock rash. I use whips to keep the boat off the dock. Probably not an option for your vacation rental though.

Thanks all! I figured it would be ok but had to do a sanity check.

The dock has a “middle” spot so it’s possible with enough robe I could tie it up where it doesn’t touch anything ? I’ve got 5 bumpers also for mid-day tie ups.

Bumpers bumpers bumpers. If you can get bungee over ropes it allows some movement and water level changes.

If you can also keep it covered, great. Make sure your bilge is working good just in case of any unforseen leaks or heavy rain Storm. But you will be there every day, so unless it's a major leak I don't think sinking would be an issue.

The cover is important for preventing 2 things that I have encountered.

1) if you are moored in the open, I had rollers crashing over the bow and the cover kept inside dry.

2) I was at a dock on Norris and the ducks had a shitparty on my swim platform, if the cover was off, I am confident the party would have extended into the interior.
