I purchased a 13' lsv in AL and I am looking at either shipping the boat back or paying a friend with a truck to haul it back with me. What do u guys think the cost would be. It would be roughly 1000 miles from AL to WI. Thanks!

I got a quote from a towing service and they said 3k. Yikes!!!!

Any recommended services where I might get a better quote?

You can try throwing an ad up on Uship or rent a truck and pull it back.

Actually, for a 20 hour drive at $125 per hour it is close to actual costs. Only cheaper costs would be to get it yourself.

I would have guessed $2000-2500 based on some peeps that told me their boats were recently shipped.

With current gas prices, $3000 towing a boat might be a deal. Gas alone would be $500-$600 one way.

January 21 our boat was shipped from Texas to NC for 2k. But has prices are nuts right now so I can see a higher cost of maybe $300-$500. I think 3k is a bit too steep. Even so, I would pay 3k before I paid anyone else who was not vetted for a lower amount for a boat!

I know thats sticker shock for sure but I'm not too surprised on the $3k price given the fuel prices, truck prices, and most hotshot or RV type delivery drivers are in a somewhat shortage as well. Some of them are doing higher and higher fuel surcharges if they accept the load now and I cant really blame them no one wants to work for free or just break even on it. Get you a buddy and drive down on the weekend might be your only way to save some money on it without using a service you might not be able to fully trust.

Nothing is comparable in cost anymore, inflation being so high/out of control has established new cost baselines going forward.

Coming soon 8-9% mortgage rates.

You want sticker shock? Try getting a roofing quote.

I ended up just biting the bullet and going down to pick up the boat with a buddy of mine. The trip wasn't too costly because I had free housing. The gas total was around $800

Pretty inexpensive. Just a long ass ride.

If you treat your time as free, you did well.
