Well....it's no surfboat! But I bought a 22 ft pontoon last weekend. It's a 2008 with a 3.0L 4 cly Mercruiser I/O. Just took all the seats out to take to have them recovered. Runs pretty good and pontoons and floor are solid. Project boat, like I needed another project. But this gives the kids and wife something to drive and hang out on when the Moomba is parked.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220405/ac95ea2d536070f71e3725934725b233.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220405/a2c54fc3a5f01bd77c43e92233d5352d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220405/1fa5ea4ef9d20c2b7a2cd0335ed383c0.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220405/299bae3d5ab346be728c58d7895ce8c3.jpg

You doing anything with the carpet?

Would look sweet all gatorstep. Would probably have to cover the wood first with plastic sheeting.

Spending others people money is so easy...lmao

Garage is getting close to being done- It will be nice to have a indoor place for the boat.

Indoor half vaulted and half room..Size is 36x50.

Garage looks sweet! We are hoping to get a 48x60 going here soon. Already paid for plans and engineering. I think that was the easy part. Still don’t have a price tag yet….

brad460

^^Will it be stick built or pole barn?

I am going to be at about $48-50k having done all the work myself except the concrete work. Price wise- The room in the trusses and vaulted trusses added about $4k over standard trusses. Also keep in mind I bought all the wood last Oct when prices were down, they are double today. I am also doing LP Smart siding (which is expensive)- saving $6k painting it myself.

Guessing if I had contracted out the whole building it would have been $85-100k.

We are going for a monitor building to match our farmhouse style home. It will be stick built and I have to finish it to match the house per our CC&R's so it will be a spendy build compared to a pole barn. Basically like below but on a grander scale with 14' doors and twin cupolas. I'm hoping we could do it with no support poles but since I'm also shooting for a full depth loft in the center bay that is probably unlikely or the beams would be crazy expensive.

I'm planning to do as much as I realistically can but there's no way I would take this on myself. Found a builder who is good to let me take on as little or as much as I want. So I'll for sure run electrical, paint, and eventually insulate and finish. Maybe do the siding.

Been wanting to do this for years but then of course when we finally got close to making it a reality we had a pandemic then a Russian invasion. Plans may change or get delayed once we see the price tag.

Finally had a chance to pull the cover off and start getting it ready. Feels like I’m already behind but the water just hasn’t warmed up much. Got all the bags hooked back up, plugs are all in and the impeller is changed. Ready for a good coat of wax and some much needed lake time. You can tell my helpers ready for it too :)

That's no joke! So far if you through the fuel filter out of the question, most of it hasn't been too bad to get to. The fuel filter placement just really seems like an after thought. Having the big engine dividers that come out easy makes it pretty decent to maintain, well that and the huge lockers

It was snowing in Ohio the past 2 days, flurries today.
I went out and talked to my Mojo to make sure everything was OK but nothing close to water time.

I'm waiting on a new tow vehicle also so the snow is helping delay my excitement.

Got the boat wet for the season! Air temp was 81 and water temp was 73. Beautiful day on Martin! It was windy as hell when I launched and got pushed against the dock. Thankfully the rubber coping around the dock saved the day and was able to clean it off easily. My heart sank at first though seeing the entire midsection of my boat with black and gray scrapes along side it. Had a nice old fella come help me wrangle the boat against the wind and so glad he was there lol. One of those days but glad to get the cob webs blown out and ready for the season!

Its been a rough two years for me and Beastia MOJO - 2020 I worked almost all summer due to the Pandemic and me being in Water Treatment.
Also with all the people buying boats our dock took a beating. Got everything fixed and managed to get maybe 30hrs on her.

2021 was worse as I switched jobs to Honeywell and I was gone almost the entire summer, I was gone so much the wife asked me to put Beastia on the trailer and park her in the driveway as she was afraid something would go wrong at the dock and she would have to deal with it herself. I didn't even burn a tank a fuel through her,

She was right, 3 times we had to fix the dock due to people not respecting the distance laws, broken cables and the like. Then when I was home weather was not favorable to go out. On Labor weekend I was on the dock with a buddy and kept hearing loud pops, bangs when rollers came through.

Found out the docks frame was busted in 3 places from all the traffic.

This season we have a new to us dock being installed this week, our lift will get moved also and I'm actually planning another job change that will guarantee more time at home to enjoy the Lake Front Property we own. Also I hope this also finally brings me back to the Moomba family here. As I have been pretty absent due to my travels. I really do enjoy spending my time here keeping up with the people, and there are so many new people here now

I understand your fears and panic stricken moments,

When we first moved to GA and had our first dock, learning curve, LOL We were going out one night and didn't fold in the wake board racks, one caught the dock side pole pulled us side ways and scratched the boat. OMG I was mortified!!

Then we got the lift, and and you have to pull the boat in so fare then hold the front centered until the lift grabs the boat to lift. ( Mind you the wife grabs the front of the dock and holds the boat centered until I take over holding it and she hits the lift, well I pulled the boat in too fare and the lift went up and the nose caught the dock, ohh man the scratches and stuff, I was literally ready to be sick.

Although my personal pleasure is smack it if its there <you get it> lol

We got her fixed, and its a learning thing, it lets you know, these things are physical and can be fixed, but that doesn't mean you don't love them as real objects in your life.

Don’t be too jealous. This Houstonian won’t make it out for the first day until late June. Weather is warm enough now but with Friday crew changes my first weekend off is wasted with travel, my second weekend we have to head to east Texas to visit family (mom and siblings potentially all in the same place at the same time, a rare occurrence). My third weekend will be spent driving to Florida and my fourth will be spent driving home from Florida. Then it’s back to South America for 4 weeks. Latest start ever for us.

Imagine leaning over the side of the boat after hitting and your eyes seeing this all down the metal flake and trying to calculate the cost of repairs lol. That’s all I was thinking and wished I had take a pic how bad it looked all on the boat.

Got my son into a lesson and it really improved his confidence and willingness to try things we've been asking him to do since last summer.

That’s awesome!! I’d use that first pic as a teaching point to remind him to keep that rope low around his hips. He could land and get pulled out the front or catch the front edge.

Every jump the instructor was working on getting his hands down. By the end, he was doing a good job keeping it low.

That is awesome!! I am sure we all wish we would have had some sort of actual wakeboarding lessons at that age.

Took the Makai out today. Weather was great. Water was 78, a little chilly, but good. Kids surfed and wake boarded. Man was the boat dusty! Covers are over rated! LOL!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220501/fa6ab57228d1bd83d80fa9dd82e5a0ed.jpg

I don’t know why but the wife and I always forget to get pictures on the water or any action shots, maybe having the 2 kiddos under 5 is why [emoji2371] I told her we need to do better with our pictures next time. Anyways we made a solo (no family or friends) trip to the lake this weekend to get everything ready for a busy May on the water. I did get this picture on Saturday evening. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220502/f61d566a3a6e59f0be949196d51d94f7.jpg

And managed to catch a nice little haul Saturday night for a fish fry on Sunday https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220502/616fb9d700b1f5abe023a5536edd4dde.jpg

Lol Nah I haven’t tried that yet! That was just in 30 mins fishing the lights off of our dock.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220502/d695cae31c9274edd5240eb15687f62b.jpg

I took the fishing boat out for a few hours Saturday morning for large mouth but didn’t catch anything worth writing home about

Wow, your building looks bigger with the boat in it, usually the boats make your building look tiny haha

I giggled that he has his trailer tongue collapsed in that photo. You could fit an entire showroom in that thing

Got out finally on the last day on the month. The water is only 50 degrees so it was drysuits for us. Felt sooooooo good to finally get out and start the year!

Visited Lake Powell Saturday. May not be able to launch the Moomba, but the view is outstanding. I was there to work on the houseboat anyway...

I read yesterday that Powell is 32 feet away from having to shut down hydro power.

That really seems dire.

That's awesome, I am sure the instructor has told him, I have taught dozens of people how to surf behind our boat and a couple wake boarders how to get up ( I know jack about wake boarding LOL ) but keep them arms straight out, the bended elbows will cause slack at the wrong time and be a quick lesson in physics with water and speed.

Here is the link. They make 1,2,3 or 4 bulb systems.

Yep, it is looking very grim right now.

For sure. The reason the water is so calm in my picture is that boats can't get on the lake at the north end. I saw 3 boats and 2 wave runners in the time I was on the lake working on the houseboat. We need 5 feet of rise to get the ramp in the water. On the south end, they can still launch. The Bureau of Reclamation is supplementing inflows by basically draining Flaming Gorge, so they should keep the lake above power generation this year, but there are no promises for next spring.

Pulled the boat out this morning- was the first winter being able to store the boat in my own garage! Had picked up a Ram 2500 over the winter also, at least now the boat doesn’t look over sized compared to my prior 1500.

I’ve had a couple of these off the end of my dock that have worked perfectly for over 10 years. A bit pricey but super bright and durable!
