Just curious if anyone knows the weight difference between these 2 engines. Just guessing I would think the supercharger assembly will add around 150lbs? Just looking at the boat specs on my new one and trying to see how much heavier it is than my 20 sl450. I know the boat is 350lbs but that number is pretty vague with options etc.

Supercharger’s don’t weigh that much. I think the 575 uses a roushcharger tvs2300 appx 52#

The intercooler loop adds some weight but probably another 20# max

I hated to spend the money. A 450 is a pig at 6500 feet elevation. Summer time our density altitude can be 10000+ feet. Our dealer sold a makai last year with that engine solely for that reason.

Yessir, completely understand the cost of elevation. DA of 10k feet is brutal on power.

But think of the SC as a free lead ballast bag.

Even though we are currently at 1000’ ASL, we bought a 450 for the future because you never know what it holds.

A decent estimator for power loss per altitude is

(Altitude X 0.03 X HP)/1000.

Really should use Density Altitude to be accurate.

With the example of the raptor 575 (510 HP/580 ft.lbs)at 10000 feet DA.

(10000x0.03x510)/1000 = 153hp lost compared to sea level or 357hp, about the equivalent of the raptor 400, which is really good at 10k feet.

If Indmar would allow tuning at higher elevations, simply adding pulley ratio, you could increase boost and gain much of that loss back.

Well worth the investment.
