As an OSU fan I'm glad Harbaugh is still the coach. His record sucks against OSU and MSU. That is why they restructured his contract to cut 1/2 his base pay but add that to the incentives if he produces results. He hardly ever beats top 10 opponents during the year.

Desmond Howard is also a homer to declare Hassan Haskins as Heisman Trophy frontrunner. I give credit to Hassan Haskins during that game, he had an awesome game, but where has that been all year? Desmond is getting a little too excited on TV. Ha Ha.

I agree one year doesn’t absolve the 20 year dominance, but I was cracking up reading Eleven Warrior members calling for Day’s firing. This was his ONLY B1G loss. Better sign him to 10 years 100+ before the NFL grabs him.

It was a great win that should make “The GAME” competitive again.

Haskins has been solid all year as has the whole running game. But no, he is not heisman worthy. Anyone could have run behind that O line dominance Saturday.

Aiden Hutchinson is worthy and deserves at minimum an invite, honestly can’t think of a heisman front runner this year.

I was cracking up too. I'm glad if "the game" gets more competitive. Scoring 27 points must be a losing number in the last two games

2019 Ohio State wins 56-27
2021 Michigan wins 45-27

I'm sure they are still pissed off in Columbus . . . .

Heisman - I has hoping for a good game for Kenneth Walker against OSU, but no dice.
If Bryce Young has a good game against GA, he will lock it up. Otherwise, there will be a lot for TV and radio to talk about.

Buckeyes take this much harder than Wolverines. Even when it was not lopsided. Buckeye fans are rabid towards losing “The Game”.

Been to many OSU games at the big house, UM welcomes OSU fans, we tailgate together and have a good time, I will say I have never been to the shoe and understand that UM fans are treated poorly to say the least.

These comments are true but OSU fans are getting better. Or less people are caring about "The Game" on campus.

I'm born and raised from Ohio, alumni from OSU, and if you are a true Michigan fan and/or from Michigan then good for you! Let's drink some beers give each other a bunch of shit and watch the game. Campus is a joke and most damage is from people that just like the chaos and looking to start a fight.

The fair weather fans drive me crazy, for any team, and those are usually the ones doing damage.

As for the Heisman race, Young has it if he can have a good game against GA. I don't even think bama has to win, he just has to play well and be competitive.

I hope UM can get to the CFP and win. The Big Ten needs to always best ESPN, I mean SEC....LMAO

Lincoln Riley apparently got a crazy deal at USC. Good for him and OU deserves it. I love OU and UT falling into turmoil at the end the year, what they get for abandoning the conference.

The coaching carousel has been crazy this year. We fired our coach midway through the season and at the time a lot of people were complaining about it but I bet they are glad now since we were about to get a head start finding our new guy. Our OC was appointed interim HC and then the new HC decided to keep him on staff and that lasted about a week before he took a HC job at LA Tech so now we are on our interim interim HC. The new HC doesnt take over until the start of next year, he's been nailing the recruiting trail however.

It was far more than Iowa’s lack of talent at QB that caused a 42-3 loss.

Michigan has a pretty good D….. with a couple “good” edge rushers lol.

Not a bad Offense either to hang 42 on a good Iowa D

Looking forward to playing Georgia.

Not really because of what he did against Auburn or SEC Champ game specifically but because he has been a great QB all season and has progressed so much being this is his first year as a starter. His Iron Bowl comeback and performance in the SECCG definitely helped but he was a runner for the Heisman throughout the season. I'm not sold on Bama this year. Did you watch them play LSU and Auburn? They barely scraped by. I am an Ohio State fan and it pains me to say, but Michigan is peeking at the right time. They busted up Ohio State and crushed Iowa. I am actually surprised because I thought they looked shaky in some of their early games like Nebraska and Rutgers, but they are playing well. I think Cincinnati has a good team with a lot of 3rd and 4th year players. I'm not sure if Georgia is even that good, they haven't played anyone all year. I think this is anyone's CFP to win out of the 4. Bama does have experience and coaching that could give them the edge. Will be interesting.

Always hard to measure teams in tough conferences. SEC vs SEC games are always challenging.

Don’t sleep on Cincy, but they struggled in a few games this season against weaker teams.

Bama (saban) has a way of exposing overrated teams.

UM is peaking, but Georgia will be the best team they faced this season by far.

Hard to imagine this won’t be a factor. Hope it’s not, but omnicold could be a literal game changer.

At least the CFP games don’t suffer from the nfl opt outs. Opt outs have ruined bowl games.

In my opinion, get rid of bowl games and replace with the FCS playoff format.

Way too much time between conference championship games and CFP.

16 teams. Eliminate 1 regular non conference game.

I don’t think anyone would argue seeing this 16 team bracket.

I love that about them, but they aren't UGA so I hate that! Never count them out, because if you do, they will bite you in the ass. If Georgia has their act together this weekend I think they will face Bama again. All 4 of these teams are first class or they wouldn't be where they are now. If I bet money on any of them, I would do it with my but puckered!! They are all good teams and it will be mistakes that lose these games.

I don't have a problem with the 4 teams in the CFP. I think the 4 most deserving were picked. The committee is lucky Oklahoma State lost. But, I think Bama/UGA needed to be a semifinal. There is no way that should be a potential final after those two teams already played. IMO it's not a good look, takes away from the previous matchup.

SEC no question gets preferential treatment.

Another reason to expand playoff and of after a 16 team bracket, two teams from same conference end up in final, fine.

It would be a real bad look for Bama to win the conference, but then lose the national championship to the team you previously beat for a championship. I think it would make the whole playoff look stupid. That’s why they should have put UGA vs Bama in a semifinal.

As an Alabama fan, a 16-team playoff would be great! It would pretty much guarantee even more opportunity for national championship trophies for us! Fact is the most recent season in which Alabama didn’t finish in the top 16 was way back in 2007.

That said, expanding the playoffs to 16 teams and doing away with bowl games would be detrimental to the sport. At the end of the regular season, for the many teams that didn’t make the 16-team playoff roster, a month of practice and athletic development that can only happen on the playing field would disappear. In addition, from the fan experience we would lose the nerves/excitement that comes with having to win every game to make it to the current four-team playoff structure.

In the end, expanding the playoffs to sixteen teams would result in what we’ve seen over the last 7 years since the start of CFB playoffs - the rich (measured by player recruiting, sponsor and TV revenue, conference and national championships) just get richer!

Deerfield - Alabama has had an exceptional run over the last 15 years, but I think your statement was a bit tongue in cheek. At least that is how I am reading it. I think 16 team would lead to less Bama championships, but that is just my speculation. 2015 is a good example, that Ohio State team was loaded and only lost one game in a rain/snow/wind storm on a last second field goal. I think they give Bama all they can handle if they play in the playoffs. Look at the 2016 Penn State team, they were playing really well at the end of the season and if they got in they would have made some noise that year. Of course, if the field was expanded with how well Bama plays I think they would make it every year. They have only missed the 4 team field once. As an Ohio State fan I like the 4 team playoff, it keeps the games during the season meaningful. Look at this year, Ohio State lost arguably 2 out of 3 of its only tough games and that cost them a chance at the playoff. Seems fair to me. However, some years the tiebreakers hurt and some really good teams get left out. But, the formula so far is go undefeated and you won't get left out. The problem is going to occur when 4-5 teams end up undefeated. Or, 3 undefeated and 3 1-loss teams, But just win and you are in.

larry_arizona
12-29-2021, 05:02 PM
I think a conference championship should be required if they stick with the 4 team.

Two teams from same conference should not be in CFP.

Before the CFP, late losses meant a lot. 2006 #1 OSU beat #2 Mich 42-39 is an epic battle. They NEVER would have allowed #1 OSU rematch 11-1 Mich. Michigan should still be ranked #2 due to only loss against #1 right?

For awhile I thought 8 teams would be cool. Thus, we could watch college ball the first three weekends in Jan with games meaning something.

Not sure it would make a difference b/c one of the top 3-4 teams would win. But it gives one of the smaller conference teams a chance to compete.

The teams ranked 5, 6, 7, 8 might have 1 upset win, but I would not see these teams winning three strait games vs the top teams in the country.

Sort of sucks it's the same teams getting all the top players each year - loose players to the NFL and just reload.

Rematch revenge is rare in the same season, more likely that rematch is in line with the first game.

From my perspective, it was bad enough to lose to Ohio state 1x per year. However, With as hard as OSU took the loss this year to Michigan, I seriously don’t know what buckeyes would do if they lost TWICE to Michigan in the same season.

Recent example, Oregon Vs Utah. Oregon got crushed both games in similar fashion.

Congrats on the good season and big 10 championship.

I don’t think 30 is accurate. On D they lose hutch, hill, Ojabo , ross to the draft

On O they lose, Haskins and Vastardis (center)

As for McNamara and JJ. It will be an interesting competition for the starter. From all that I have read (A lot) both of them are locked in and know they make each other better.

JJ’s upside is massive. I see them both playing next year with JJ getting more snaps each game. JJ’s arm is insane and obviously he can run. Wasn’t really a dual threat QB, but he is fast.

Just counted, They are losing 16 total to graduation or draft.

No issue with Bama, they are far and above the best team of the past 15 years. I would have bet against them because it is hard to beat a team twice in a 3 week period. And I thought Georgia would be hungry. I wish OSU had as many titles as Bama. I would say that OSU is close to top three over that time frame so I don’t have too much to complain about. But Bama gets it done more often than not.

My issue is with the committee. They change the rules from week to week. Did OSU benefit in 2014? Probably. Did they benefit in 2016? Yes. What happens if Oklahoma State wins the big 12 this year? Leave Cincinnati out in favor of Georgia? Also, I think given that this was a rematch game, I stand by my opinion it should have been a semifinal game.

Yes Bama was bit by the injury bug. Congrats to Georgia and Good season for Bama as well.

THIS will forever change the college football landscape.

The SEC is already superior to the other 4 power5 conferences by a long shot, add in massive NIL contracts to elite talent and that separation will grow.

Crazy money for college talent. But either get on the NIL train or be left behind.

Let’s face it, Texas boosters have been doing this for years, not sure if you all remember the booster money in the old SWC days leading to the SMU death penalty. The only difference with NIL is that it is legal.
