We are in Lake Martin in Alabama. It’s a gorgeous lake!

Headed in trying to beat the storms and I spotted this fin looking thing sticking out of the water. Tried to be a badass like Rip in Yellowstone and lasso it in but I failed miserably while my wife and daughter just laughed. Eventually wife said screw it and jumped in to bring it by the swim deck. There were some tubers with kids onboard in the area and this would have been bad to hit. Just doing our part in hopes others do too.

For my daughter, the biggest thing was to figure out that she was goofy. We kept trying on the regular side with no luck. As soon as I switched her over she popped right up.

I’ll never go to a lake on a weekend anymore. Sun pm-Th are my times. Weekends are for amateurs. Our shift cycles allow us to avoid the madness.

I wish we could do it more often. I work on the other side of the state so it’s just not possible for us to do it unless it’s during a vacation. After I posted the driftwood pic on the lake FB page I didn’t realize people pay for those. They were saying like $2-3 a lb. Makes me want to quit my job and start a new one doing nothing but collecting driftwood to sell :D

Tried out the Neo in twin setup with the Chaos Flares and it definitely loosens the board up. Looses a little drive compared to the quad though so you have to work a little harder to recover. It wore me out after 3-4 runs and I ended up putting the nubsters back in for the rest of the day. I’ll give the twins another try tomorrow but I felt more comfortable with the quads, especially if having to recover way back. Probably because I’m clearly not athletic enough for them :D. Need to get some weight off my body for sure!

I use my iPhone for most of these. It doesn’t do so well in low light conditions and has artifacts that annoy me but it’s so easy to whip it out and take a decent quality image in a split second compared to digging out the good camera gear. I did bring my DSLR and use it a few times but no images uploaded with it in this thread. All action shots are taken with my GoPro Hero 8.

Nice job on practicing the transfers Hak! That’s definitely where I’m looking to focus next. See if I can get across clean and rope-less. Need good comms with your driver to get the timing right. Riding heel edge on the face of the wave messes with my brain so much….gotta work at it.

Yea I couldn't even compute what I needed my feet to do when I tried heel side :D!!! My brain was so confused lol. The curl on the goofy side didn't help matters as it's much meatier and it was just engulfing my back leg making it worse trying to play with footing. That lasted for a few seconds before saying screw it put me back on the regular side :D.

We did the 3, 2, 1 countdown during the transfer attempt and my daughter said my wife hit the switch on time. I just need to count what the actual delay and time it takes the plates to move and form the wave. I was just stoked I actually made it over that time because I've tried in the past but wasn't able to even get over. Now that I understand how to pump and generate speed it "clicks" with how to get over there.

It was fun even if I failed at both. I also failed miserably trying to do a spin but I haven't found that footage yet. It was probably the worst looking attempt at a spin ever tried :D

Thanks guys. It was really nice that he did so well. He worked really hard this season riding 2 or 3 times a day. He wakes me up now on my days off to take him out while the water is like glass lol. He isn’t riding at Zander’s level yet but he is also a bit younger. He will be trying to land his tantrums and scarecrows next season which is pretty cool. I will post video when he lands them.

The competition was on Sproat Lake near Port Albernie. About 90 minutes northwest of Nanaimo. Really nice area. You can’t even tell the rest of the province is on fire from there.

Ah, ya I had heard that the conditions on the Island were much better.

One of my staff just returned from two weeks in BC, first one in Tofino, and the second on a houseboat. First week was fantastic, the second not so much!

He said the smoke was so bad they maybe only had 200 yards visibility.

Had my final weekend of the summer last weekend and also had some work today. Some how I failed to get pictures of the boat in the water so here is one on the trailer.

Had an issue with the trailer bunks being lower on the left side than the right so I pulled them off to install spacers (boat was rubbing on the left fender) and found this. About 2/3 of the bunk mounts are rusted all to hell while the other 1/3 look basically perfect. Boats never been in brackish much less salt water but it looks like I have some work to do this fall.

Wow! That is certainly more than surface rust too. Any salted roads? But strange how nothing else is rusting. Possibly caused by treated lumber from the bunk boards. Try sliding a thin piece of rubber between them before mounting back.

no salted roads in south east texas. I already put it back together with 1/4 aluminum spacer between there. This fall / winter ill chip the rust and repaint I guess. Carpet needs to be replaced on some of the bunks anyways.

I think I'd ask boatmate to send out new pieces and get a welder to remove/replace then prime/paint with rattle can. sanding off and redoing my gut is you'll be doing the same thing in a few years and who knows if the structural integrity of the piece is still there to hold up a 5000lb boat.
with a trailer less than 5 years old I would think boatmate would send out the metal hangers for someone to fix. at 8 or 9 years might be a harder sell.

If Boatmate would foot the bill for all that I’d be interested. I’ve had nothing but problems with the trailer this summer to be honest from two leaking wheel seals to burning up a brake rotor coming down a hill to rust to the boat bottoming out on a fender. Not too impressed. Super frustrating part is it should all be under warranty but it always breaks when a warranty claim would not be a practical solution.

Also, it looks in the photos that the rust has actually weakened the bracket and it is bent further down than the other side. That is why the boat is dropped down. You could DIY a fix pretty easy without all the hassle of welding but the boat has to be off the trailer for any of it.

Call Boatmate and see what they say. My friends Craz (2019) was just stranded at Norris. Wheel bearing had failed and took out the hub, 2nd time in 11 months. The brake actuator was found to be bad also on the tongue, and it caused a stuck caliper on the bad bearing side. Boatmate sent a new axle and service tech to swap it in a church parking lot. He had to leave it for the week and then drive back down from Ohio to get it though. They sent a new actuator to his house for hime to change.

My last weekend of the summer because I am currently back in quarantine at the Houston Airport Marriott slated to fly out Sunday to Guyana for 7 weeks for work. We will try to get out a couple more times in october when I get home weather willing.

I know. He weighs just under 80lbs. He is basically standing up on the board just above idle speed when I take off with him. I started out with 50% amplitude and he could surf it just fine. I just leave it all the way at 100% now. I don’t see any advantage to the smaller wave for him.

That is about how it’s been here. Probably the wettest summer I can remember. Sucks for lake time but better than the alternative. Between work and the weather we’ve probably only been to the lake 5 times this year excluding the recent vacation trip :(

I gotcha. He is just north of the 287 Bridge. We are on the south side of the lake off of SE CR 2370. Ya Katy adds another 30 mins to the drive vs Hockley and he is about 30 mins past us. Ends up taking us 2.5 hrs door to door so not to bad.

We always launch at Rainbow park- this is right at the start of Butt Des Morte. This launch is great as there are ( I think ) at least 10 launch ramps. I have never had to wait to launch or load.

We don’t venture too far on to Winnebago. We will head down the west side to the cove sand bar, but thats it and we usually stay closer to the shore line.

Next weekend we are going to head up the Wolf River to Fremont.

No, we purchased the swivels but when I tilt the tower down they stick up and won’t fit under my lift canopy. I’ll get extensions next year for the canopy

5% ... debated it a bit, but happy with how it turned out. Definitely keeps things a bit cooler and looks the best I think. I'm driving looking over the glass at dusk and beyond anyway, so hasn't been an issue for me with that.

Not much to say so far, picked it up Friday, spent whole weekend on it, and I cant get a surf wave thats rideable. Lots of tinkering to do. Bought it so I could surf since my older malibu was unsurfable. Fit and finish seems to be great , pretty well taken care of boat. I have ordered some wakemakers 910 lb bags to try and help wuth the surfing situation. Other than that, and the fact my buddies se550 gouged the crap out of my hull while we were tied off, I like the boat so far.

The only advice is get the boat loaded as close to the limit as possible and keep that pitch ~9.5%. It will surf just fine, as long as you pay attention to roll and pitch and don't expect it to be anything like your buddies se 550 wave. Now. If you're wakeboarding, we loved the wake on ours.

Been here, it’s frustrating. What worked for me was increasing pitch to about 10.5-11 and adjusting the surf plate up to 40-45 with extra weight in the floor as far back as you can get it.

Yeah the 550 has spoiled me for sure, the wakeboard wake is excellent lots of lip. I like the boat, uses a good bit more fuel than my 320hp sunsetter did. Cruise is nice to have and works better than any perfect pass setup I have used in the past. Just so many fine setting with surf tabs, figuring out ballast placement, passenger placement, pitch and roll its a lot to take in. Will get it figured out eventually when this rain goes away.

If you need someone to fix your "gouges" in the off season, Shanne Coffman from the TheBoatWorks does good work. Shop is located off Clinton Hwy. I know he does warranty work for the local dealers of Supra, Moomba, Malibu, and Axis. Also did some transom work on my previous Supra.

The mighty mondo surfs! Zack came out and got me dialed in with a combination of speedo calibration and surf tab setting adjustment. Unfortunately we also hit a big ol branch and dinged my prop so I pulled the boat back out and they are swapping back to my stock prop for now. Rode amazing on the stbd side, I tried to ride the port side but had trouble because Im just not used to that. And it works this good without even installing my new bags! Cant wait to see what an extra 5-600 lbs will do for it!

Be ready...once you add rear weight, you will then need to add bow weight to maintain your 9.5* pitch. Next you will be adding lead or making everyone sit in the bow.

Hfar that's my son surfing. He surfs and wakeboards all the time. All my friends are videos and i don't know how to post videos. They are the other 3 on the tube but they all rode the versa board first and then the older boy was able to surf with the rope and wakeskate. I put 500lbs off lead in the bow since everyone always sits in the back and run around 10.5 mph first and if they are getting pushed into back of the boat i speed up to about 11.5

My quick lil project from tonight. Noticed my engine side covers bulging out with my new bags installed. So I had looked at ordering the wakemakers divider support bars but hesitated because 80 bucks seemed kinda pricey for c channel and bolts. So I decided to make my own. Got 1x1x1/8 in aluminum c channel from metal supermarket here in town. Of course they only had half of what I needed but for 20 bucks i took it. Then a trip to Ace for stainless hardware @25 bucks. Drilled out the channel, placed the supports where they didnt protrude onto anything critical and then marked and drilled divider. Bolted up and boom! One side down. Now just waiting for metal to finish other side. Buying is definitely the better deal. Will be within 20 dollars by the time its all done, and wakemakers powdercoats theirs for a stealthy look

I plan on going back to replace the wood 1x4's with some black painted hat channel to make it look better. The metal that you see in them now is what came factory. I think this is really a poor design to be honest. The metal they put in there to prevent them from bowing doesn't work well. And the 3 piece design is not set up so that the panels get any connecting support from each other. Like I said, they were popping out from just stock ballast. The shallow 1/2" aluminum channel on the floor the fit into needs to be taller too. For what these divider panels weigh, it almost makes sense to just replace these with full aluminum panels and be done with it. The channels at the bottom could be a little taller and if they were any weight added, it just becomes ballast.....;)

My port side panel does the same thing with the stock bags. I have the WM 1345 bags and the divider support kit that I need to install I just haven't had time. I am also going to be adding some aluminum angle to add height on the engine side of the channel to prevent the divider from hopping out.

fwiw our '06 supra had the same issues that everyone sees now. so did our first tige.
it's an ongoing issue one would think the vendors would have corrected years ago.

So I have been having issues with the dividers between the rear lockers and engine compartment popping out of position when the ballast is completely full on my 2021 Mumbai mojo. Here’s how I resolved it.
