I was somewhat disappointed when I found out the overhead LED light in the Pro Tower on my Makai could not be operated independently of the ambient lights around the cup holders and speakers. It's really bright and too much so for cruising with it on at night when you would just like a little light in the boat. So I added a small push switch to turn it off and on. I actually got the switch out of an old LED solar light I had that I bought from Lowes for about 4 bucks. I just interrupted the hot wire in the light strip. Just drilled a 3/8" dia hole in the plastic diffuser plate and secured the switch in place with some clear Gorilla glue. Also glued the small rubber cover on top of the push switch afterwards with it too. Works great! Seems like a large oversight to have the dome light and the interior LED's on the same switch.
Nice workaround!
