Has anyone added wakeMakers bag busters for Moomba Makai in their Kaiyen?

How does WM not have bags for the Kaiyen yet? That is crazy!!

Aren't they the same as the new Makai?
Similar hull just the length is different, but I thought that length was in the middle of the boat not the back.

I found out that the bags from manufactures are the exact ones for Makai, so I have my order in for larger bags to fit in my Kaiyen

I put in the Wakemakers bags for a Makai into my Kaiyen this spring and it made a huge difference. I can no easily surf with just my wife and 8 yr old in the boat with plenty of push. Sometimes it’s even too fast and I need to hit the breaks. Can easily now fill the bow bags to 100% to maximize them too. I also put in the Wakemakers vent kit eliminating the need for burping the bags and panel reinforcements.

I assume you have to pull the bins out? Any idea on how much weight these add vs stock? Pretty much plug and play?
The panel reinforcements needed??

Yes the bins need to be pulled out but I’m going to replace with HyprRyde nets. The bags are 100% plug and play (10 minute job). The vent you need to make a couple cuts and use a heat gun to get the fittings together but it’s super easy (I’m not handy at all). I believe the stock bags are 1k or 1100’s (someone correct me if I’m wrong) and the new bags are 1345 each so about 600 lbs depending on what stocks really are.
Yes the panel reinforcements are needed, it’s a small amount versus have them snap and your bags get ruined and have water all over. Contact Adam Tober on Facebook, he will hook you up.

You will need to reinforce the divider panels. They will pop out on you at some point. Skiers Choice should be making a retrofit for these panels in my opinion. They are not designed well. Mine would pop out when just maxing out my stock bags. Make sure to screw the bottom of the panels into the aluminum track too.

So additional drill holes through the plastic dividers and aluminum bracket?

Not all the way through. Just a small hole in one side of the aluminum channel facing the bag. Then get some 1/2" long "8 stainless sharp point screws and they will self tap into the plastic panel. I put 2 per panel. I also had to do the rear panel covered with carpet. It popped out of the bottom on me too when I put in the WM bags. Those panels just bend too easily. The screws keep the bottoms from pulling up out of that short channel. There was already 1 screw in the front and back panel on mine from the factory.

These are the screws I was referring too. They don't need to go all the way through both sides of the aluminum channel. If you use 1/2" long the point on the screw will just make contact with the other side and go all the way through the plastic divider panel.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220708/d96dc6bc040c9c2fb05ea5865ef18354.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220708/8db807b48191a6ac70d9d43ee06092e0.jpg

I bought a set of these. Haven't installed them yet. Looks like they should be installed on the engine side for sure. Will take a little cutting for me unfortunately. I installed noise insulation on that side.
Everyone doing 2 on the middle panel and one on the stern panel?

I essentially did the same thing buying the channel at Home Depot. Yes install on the engine side and make sure your bolt heads are smooth on the bag side so no snags. This is my setup. I did take them back off and paint them black. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220712/f56071d4ac540419528667996139bb0e.jpg

Here are a couple video screen shots to see a bit more. Just my wife and daughter in the boat with only the Wakemakers bags in the rear. Going to try some more weight on the bow next time.

I ordered the vent kit but it looks like it is not the correct one. It says it's for a 2002-2008 and has black 3/4 tubing. Will this still work? Does it just T into the overflow tube?

Without seeing what parts you have it's hard to say. But, on the size I would not think 3/4 tubing vs 1" will really matter since that would be plenty to vent air out of the bag if that is the type kit you are referring too.
