I’ve tucked a number of lead bags under the ballast bags far aft of the boat. Great location, and plenty of leverage, but they’ll definitely get wet back there. Anyone else have lead back there? Any concerns with the bags staying wet, and getting moldy?https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210705/40b51275f66592ee8d6927551f53bc94.jpg

I wouldn't think they would be anymore likely to mold than your carpet would. It gets wet too if your bags are.

Speaking of lead, anybody know a good price on some 50lb bags?

I paid $48 a piece for 10 from wakelife. Full disclosure, I’m fighting USPS to get them all delivered, but Spencer from WakeLife has been amazing. Fantastic customer service. After several weeks of not receiving all my bags, Spencer refunded me for the remaining items and said -
If you receive them…they’re free. Not his problem -
More the USPS not doing their job. Good on him! I totally support them, they’re awesome! The bags I’ve gotten are awesome- great quality.

Thanks! That price sounds good. And it's nice to know that some places still have good customer service. That is not as common place as you would think anymore.

I keep some in the same spot , they were a tad moldy so I try to take them out every now and then to dry them out and clean them with disinfectant .

i've always wondered about this as well. I've never put them under the bags for fear of them always staying wet.

I have wakelife bags too. One thing to keep in mind if you're going to leave them in wet areas is that they are not sealed very well. I keep them under the seats just in front of the rear ballast, but I always have 3 bags on the floor to move around the boat. It rained on the boat once while it was uncovered and the bags left rusty stains on the gatorstep. One of my neighbors keeps them under the ballast bags, but opens everything and vents the boat for a few hours after use.

I always took them out while that carpet dried.

Hated carpet in the locker floors.
