Hey y’all. I know a forum member just did a write up on bag vent setup for their moomba. I was looking to do something similar and ran across this kit on wakemakers

https://www.wakemakers.com/supra-moomba-vent-upgrade-kit.html

I recognize it says it’s for an older model boat but could it work for me? Forgive my lack of plumbing skills but I’m looking for better venting in my rear Enzo bags instead of the flyhigh vent plugs.

The setup are Two Enzo bags in rear.

1 - Fill/drain in bottom.

1 - Overflow top rear to thru hull and

1 - manual plug with a vent hole.

Any help appreciated!

Thanks!

I've created a quick MS Paint sketch. Is that what you're describing? If it is, is the main overflow not already acting as a vent for you?

Edit: What year/make of boat are you running? I assume you meant Haknslash's video, are you just trying to T the second port, (where you currently have the manual plug), into your main vent line?

Yes. I am referring to Haknslashs video.

It’s a 2017 Supra SA

Your drawings are correct!

The main overflow does vent but not nearly 100%. I still have to burp the bags plenty to get them 100% full of water. Running from the bow bags to the transom is a chore [emoji23]

I currently haven’t tried anything. I usually take the plugs out and fill the bags and burp them as they fill. Then put the vent plug in as they get more full and vent that way until I have almost all water.

If I could avoid even 50% of that task I would be over the moon

If you're having to burp the rear bags by unscrewing that manual plug, then I agree, using a T fitting and attaching a vent line from that plug into your main vent line should help with that. If this is true though, all you'd really need to do, rather than unscrewing the manual plug to burp the bag, is just push on that end of the bag a few times and force the air that was pooling there to go out your main vent, no?

You also mentioned running from the bow bags to the transom. As far as I understand it, the bow bag (singular) should have it's own pump(s), fill/drain line and it's own vent line. You're making it sound like you've somehow tied the bow bag into the rear bags?

Maybe one of our Supra veterans can comment on the specifics here.

1 - so you think if I tee my free plug into the vent line that would drastically improve the venting process?

2 - I can push when filling and some air will vent through the thru hull but that’s still a PIA or maybe I haven’t pushed too hard?

3 - Yes. The bow bag is independent of the rears. In the 17 they each have a single pump (not 2). But I still have to vent the bow bag. Not sure how I would be able to “auto vent” that one? It is upgraded in size but traditional in shape and has two vent plugs (starboard and port).

What about a check valve on the tee from vent plug to main vent line? Thanks for your guidance thus far! This is helpful.

Depends on what your goal is. As far as I understand it, Haknslash's goal was to suck all the water out of his bags. Turn them into raisins during draining. The check valve right at the thru hull is a good way to accomplish that.

If your goal is to not have to burp the bags during filling, then I'd say you want to find the high points on the bags where the air is pooling and ideally have a vent hose coming from that exact spot or as close as possible to it. Seems odd to me though that it was cause this much grief. The rear bags are just plain rectangular, yes? You're not sloping them in any way? They sit flat in the rear compartment?

I'm pretty sure these would be your options. Not certain on how much it will actually help. Depends a lot on where the high points are.

I think you’re right with this diagram. I think I’m going to piece it together and get parts to vent the bags like your drawing. After watching his videos, some googling and your feedback it makes sense!

The bags are not rectangular since they are enzos. They are very large bags that fill up the entire storage lockers and also go underneath the seats.

Essentially look like a giant Tetris piece that’s why it’s causing so much grief [emoji23]
