Ok, side tow points were discussed on the June Pic/video post, along with so many different conversations that I just figured I would start a separate post for this.

I posted a picture that had my 2021 Makai side tows in it, and then lots of good discussion began about side tows. Well I was just noticing the other day that my Bimini top mounting arms have what appears to be hooks on them. One on each side. I have seen them, but never paid much attention until my friends son went to hook the surf rope up to it when I asked him to attach it to my side tow point. Really, what are these for? Are they tow hooks??
Attached is a pic with my rope hooked to the round knob style side tow, and another of the Bimini bracket hook I mention.

I thought the bimini arm hooks were for just hanging rope storage or drying life jackets.

that's we we use them for. Can't think of any other use.

My thoughts as well.

I guess so too, and not sure how strong they are. They are really thick though and do line up directly with my inside tow points. But not sure I want to test their strength!

I would not tow from them at all. Those two bolts vs the what 4-5 bolts, weld and plate on the actual side tow points are no comparison. I’m 99% sure those are just for hanging ropes and vests.

I don't plan on it, especially since I already have the tow points.
