I know there have been 100s of posts asking about replacing the base for the driver's seat. The responses run the gamut from "quit whining" to custom fabrication. Unfortunately its my wife whining and I don't have the skill or materials or time to fabricate a solution. Any advice or recommendations for a base to raise the height of the seat in my 2004 Outback. Doesn't have to swivel and would prefer it to be adjustable but again, not a deal killer. I see some $800 options but I can't even figure out if they would match up and really don't want to spend close to that much. I'm handy enough to install one fortunately so if you can point me in the direction of such a base it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Here's a vid of me describing how we did our previous boats' seat boost. I realize you said you weren't up for custom fabrication but this took me all of an hour to install once I had all the parts. I think ours was a 6" booster but I would go for larger if I was you. 2004/2005 are same hull so should be pretty much the same for you. Probably less than $60-80 USD. Just need a piece of HDPE board, the booster, and some stainless flat washers/nuts/bolts. Worked really well for us.

Edit: Forgot that there were 2 pieces of HDPE, one to match base and one directly underneath the seat itself to match the bolts from the chair to the booster.

Sit on a life vest, that's what we did.. Lol.. We ended up removing the seat and added some 2x4s to the base and screwing it all together.

It's still a gripe even with the new pro tower. I want the top of my head to be within, say, 6-8" of the bimini otherwise I'm getting sunburnt head/neck.

Throwable devices are much more comfortable than life jackets. And stack better if you need multiple

This might work for you at $90.00:

https://uptice.com/collections/marine-products/products/seat-riser-round-2-7-8-universal

They also offer other brands' seat risers including Supra that might work:
