A few pics of my sons and their friends over Memorial Day weekend. Only their second time surfing. Got a good wake dialed in on the Makai with only 4 People in the boat. I thought they did really well. Water varied from 15-25 ft deep where we were surfing. They swapped around between a H/L Shim and a Connelly Ride. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210602/937236c33ac117d826db583d3f95e366.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210602/0c980eb69a9b9feb16752d80c67b380e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210602/1252b51f1fe1c45de71642b066605d95.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210602/46bc02f711d7d254fad7dc9a6c996232.jpg

We bought one on a holiday sale through WakeMakers. I was going to try it today, but because it was just my wife and I, and my previous bad experiences in airchairs, I decided to wait for a day when we had more crew in case I had a bad incident.

During a 360 attempt, I hit pretty hard and knocked the wind out of myself. I can only imagine my experience with the foil would be similar.

Highlight of the day was having two squadrons of about 30-50 pelicans cruise by the boat 3-5 feet off the glass. I tried to get vid, but I’m terrible with my camera phone. I totally forgot my new GoPro too.

I’m from Reno, that lake LOOKS nice. Don’t believe it lol. It’s salty, and it’s pretty nasty water. There’s a reason they were the only boat lol.
Right now it’s the only option for their location other than Tahoe which is so cold and difficult it’s out of the question.

Most of my friends from there frequent the lakes where I now live and drive the 100 miles.

Gives me some hope for my 53 year old out of shape self to get out there! Our biggest problem on this lake is the water depth though. This lake was made by a dam flooding the Flint River. Not in a mountain area. There are not very many spots much deeper than 20 feet, and they are not big. You have to figure out where the river channel is. Constantly looking at my depth gauge. I guess we can start learning how to surf in a circle like NASCAR! [emoji1]

J.mo,

We’d of much rather gone to Bullard’s, but the drive!!! We have friends that have houseboats there, but unless we have an invite for several days, it just isn’t worth it.

The ramp at Pyramid (Warriors) had so much algae, when we pulled out it looked like I’d driven through stewed spinach salad.

I moved mine over this weekend. the only downside is if you have the top opening glove box you might have to play with adjusting the mirror to clear it when its down.

Its 100x better on the port side. I stand up when driving so I was blocking it most of the time anyways.

You have the s bend on your Moomba right?
I have a 13 Supra and I’d like to get those surf pulls to block off where the factory Polk speakers are mounted on the tower.
I’m pulling them tomorrow and replacing with 2 rev410 on the tower.
Those would be a sweet solution to covering the holes.

I believe he has a new Makai, so it is the Aviator Pro tower.

If you find side pulls for a S-Bend, please post it up because it would be much easier to learn/teach with side pulls.

Not sure if the upper rack mounts are strong enough, but maybe just mount a rope pivot to those.

It would be on the outside instead of the inside of the tower legs. It would also allow for my Roswell swivel cans to not interfere.

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkNo s bend. It's a 2021 Makai with the pro tower like was mentioned above. Those are Wet Sounds Rev 10's though. I do like those side pulls. Simple and clean looking. Easy to hook a rope to and they do line up perfect to naturally put the rider in the sweet spot.

If @sonic is interested in making side pulls for the S-bend tower, I can loan him my factory Roswell speaker mounts to match the pattern. We are both in the same local area. On a side note, working something up for the upper rack mounts should be easy enough as well. Those spots are blank on my tower and most other folks as well I’d assume.

Thanks! Tough to remember at this point. We were messing with things trying to find that good wave. Boat is all stock. However I’m almost sure this was taken while we had autowake on and trying to reach 8.5 pitch and -1.5 roll, and to do that it dumped all my front ballast (30) then some on starboard (80) and kept port full (100). That may be why it looks like a good wave form but just not that big.

Finally gots the boats in the water last weekend. This is the first chance I had to really hear the Mojo with the sub & amp upgrade I did this spring. Very happy with the 13” JL Audio sub. It doesn’t matter where you sit it still massages your back. The grainy video is taken by my wife of my phone bouncing dash top inductive charger. Ironically, the charger didn’t work last summer so I had it repaired under warranty this past fall. Now it works but there is no way I can charge a phone on it with the stereo on!

Getting some real warm weather here in WI- upper 80s and low 90 for the past weeks and half.

Went out on Lake Winnebago last weekend and Okauchee yesterday.

We have just about 10 hours on the boat.

Couple comments on our new Max- So far love the boat and the engine is a beast. Tons of room.

We surfed a bit yesterday for the first time- was just a quick test as we didn’t have a whole lot of time to mess around. Reading all the posts in here and on FB I was concerned the wave wouldn’t be big enough...that was hardly the case. With my 18 yr old daughter driving (first time ever) and my two 6 yr olds we set off..Filled everything to 100% and set the cruise on 10.8...no tuning, no nothing. Left the wake plate down. The wave was plenty big and I was easily able to surf without the rope. With some more tuning the wave will get much better.

Note: The wave was far bigger/better than our old 04 Mobius LSV we were surfing ropeless 10+ years ago..

Few minor gripes-

I don’t like the small display screen and everything (except speed) is too small. Also hate having to choose only three items to display (depth, rpm, engine temp, gas, oil pressure, etc). I like to see all of them. I should have gone with the larger touch screen.

The non-hinged seats are irritating ...didn’t think they would bother me as much as they do. I guess I got too used to hinged seats in our last boat..

The throttle lever needs more tension. If I take my hand off the throttle for a second (to say adjust the radio volume) the slightest wave will cause the throttle to move down and accelerate the boat.

The tan seats get really hot. Way hotter than I expected and much hotter than the light grey seats we had in the past. The Gator Step also gets really hot (our last couple boats had carpet and that was much cooler).

Love the black and peanut butter. If you like the max wave out of the box, just wait until you dial it in.

Last Thursday, there was a max and Makai taking turns on the surf lane on the lake, both the max and Makai looked dialed in, both with impressive waves.

Looking forward to getting the wave dialed in a bit more and trying out our other surf boards. I haven’t surfed in a few years and so I was used to the wave we were making with our 04 Moomba and the Max is already twice that. I think its probably good we learned to surf that smaller wave back in the day as it taught us to be better surfers as there was no room for mistakes.

That being said, we are in no way pro surfers and so lead with never be needed in our boat ..We are more just casual/average skilled surfers..

What do you need help with? Same principles apply as regular, use position 3, list to surf side, probably need to speed up a bit.

Regular
10.8mph, position 2, 100% front/center 100lbs of lead
Port side 1100 full, starboard side 75%
Port midship 200lbs lead
Starboard midship 200lbs lead

Goofy - not clean and almost no push
11mph, position 2 front/center same
Port 75%, starboard 100%
Lead same

I'll try position 3 next time out and list more. Wish I had a way to measure pitch but it looks and feels right.

KnoxMojo

Fixed it for you, look at the differences.

Regular
10.8mph, position 3, 100% front/center 100lbs of lead to the surf side bow
Port side full, starboard side full
Port midship 400lbs lead and people to surf side if small crew

Goofy - not clean and almost no push..we will fix that.
11mph, position 3 front/center same 100lbs to the surf side
Port 100, starboard 100%
Lead move to surf side plus people

I'll try position 3 next time out and list more. Wish I had a way to measure pitch but it looks and feels right.....(download and inclinometer app)

You were not filling your bag full but putting lead on that side? You simply cannot run the boat level, with the manual tabs, it needs the list and it needs to sit deep to let that plate work its magic.

Thinking about the gps upgrade but not sure I really need it over the paddle wheel.
Did you upgrade yours when you had your Mojo?

Yes with the nautic-laugic. It was easy to switch back and forth between it and paddle wheel, 2 connections. We still wakeboard a lot, so it helped with surging and holding speed. Otherwise, paddle wheel is more accurate in rivers or where there is current. If you're mainly surfing and cruising, I would leave it alone.

Spent a week on Lake Powell. The water is at an all time low right now and probably will be for the foreseeable future but it is still the same great lake. Came across this boat that has now been uncovered with the water down so low. It looked like the last registration on the side of the boat was 1984 so it has probably been underwater for 36 years of so. There was a hole in the hull so we were guessing it hit a rock and went down fairly quick. Pretty strange to see it sitting there. A couple of other pictures of our friends brand new Super Air Natique. Beautiful boat and an AMAZING surf wake but at $200K+ i would probably stick with my Craz

You guys are missing two lines on the whips. You need to have a line from the from cleat on the front of the boat to the base of the whip tied to the back of the boat and another from the rear cleat of the boat to the base of the whip at the front of the boat. They keep the boat from drifting forward and back. The whips aren’t meant to do that, they are just designed to keep the boat off the dock.

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkThis is actually a pretty accurate statement. We do both, and I think it is the perception of the fast moving boat zig zagging and doing figure 8's all over the place that makes people think they are making crazy wake. And it does! But it is nothing like the size of the rollers coming off the surf side of the boat when I am weighted down.
Surf boats, when surfing, move nice and slow, but those waves don't stop till they hit something either. Just look at all the rows of rollers behind your boat next time.

The heater core/blower isn't the issue (or wasn't a month ago) its the pop out vents and hoses that are on back order. So much so they have covers on the holes and a sticker explaining they are on back order. Vents are easy to pop in with the holes already cut.

I hope that’s all it is! My dealer told me last week that the heater is out of stock and if they don’t get any by the time they build my boat then they’ll just remove that option from my build.... He only had this Makai and a Max available.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210630/87f30caaf51867a82fbdb8bbf9d77265.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210630/546c37cf5c417952b934209de3dd17cf.jpg

Sweet boat! If I see it out there I will make sure I say hello. I am mostly at Port Royale but will make the trek to pigtails and Lanier Islands.

We are actually on Lake Blackshear, so probably won't see me there. Had some good friends that just recently sold their house on the water overlooking the back of Port Royal though. Right behind it! Big place with a double story dock. So very familiar with that area. Been there a lot.

I thought you caught him at first. Had to do a double take. The black boat with peanut butter interior on the left looked close to his SE.

I hope that’s all it is! My dealer told me last week that the heater is out of stock and if they don’t get any by the time they build my boat then they’ll just remove that option from my build.... Said they (Supra) might not even offer the option on new builds anymore until they can get more in stock! Hopefully it’s as you said and only a vent issue...

Hope they get some in for you. Supply chain is still a mess right now for most types of MFG. Ready for it all to get back on track. Its a struggle even in our industry.

This thread is bittersweet...

I love the talk and help on this forum, but the photos while I'm stuck at work are killing me. This weekend cannot come fast enough.

Thinking about trying the swallow lake nearby for the fireworks over the water display. Anybody ever put their boat in a puddle (10ft avg depth)?

10 feet won’t surf well, I feel 12 feet is minimum for full surf wave.

Not trying to surf. I would be going out late, let the kids swim and have a few beers then watch the firework display once the sun goes down. I'm more worried about getting back to the dock with the rest of the fools once it gets dark. But I figured I would ask about any bad experiences at 10ft of water.

No really, the lake we are in has many places that are only 7-9 ft and people ski, wakeboard, tube over them all the time. Most probably don't even know it. No surfing in the shallows though as you could imagine.

I know it's July but these pictures were taken in June. Just got our 21mojo in. Been raining non stop but got it out for about an hour between storms. Wife whos never surfed dropped the rope on her first run and my 5 year old surfs it never ending. Loving it.

I hear you on the rain. Its been raining here like crazy. Suppose to be a beautiful weekend but our lake is flooded now. Hoping we can put in on the parking lot still and swim to the boat as all the ramps and loading docks are underwater.
