Moomba Makai registration number placement

Does anyone have any photos of where they placed their decal and registration numbers on a Moomba Makai? My paint scheme seems to present a little bit of a challenge for spacing. There is a vent (might be the horn) located on the drivers side of the boat that makes my space limited for putting them just under the rub rail. Just curious if anybody else has a similar scheme they have put numbers on.

Those look sharp. Looks like they match the MOOMBA letters exactly. I think the front hull lines on the Makai are a little different though. It seems to have more breaks in it. I have roughly 21 inches to work with.

Had the same issue on our Makai. Here is what I had to do. I wasn’t in love with having to go above the rub rail but it was the only space the legal spacing would fit. I even had to get a second set of domed numbers as the first color combo I had was for a black background.

Put it between the horn vent and registration letters.

Use the horn vent as the 6 inch separation then use the 21 inches of space you have to fit the numbers.

I forgot that I had already seen your boat pics in some other posts. That doesn't look too bad. I may end up that route. From the pics above, it looks like our front ends are slightly different? Maybe its just where the Gatorstep is placed, or light reflections. The emissions sticker is a %%$$**$& to get off. Not sure about a new boat, but trying to remove them from old trucks for replacement is a pain.

You will need to buffer and polish for sure if you go that route.

With our spray patterns this location was the only place on the boat that was long enough and was all 1 color of gel.

Ah yes. They are the same. The first angle was just a little bit deceiving. It looked like your gatorstep was on the center section of the bow. I think you may be right on the letter location too. I am also trying to make everything fit on one single color section.

O I got ya! I have the Gatorstep pieces to go on the Center section of the bow but I haven't put them on. Not even sure if I will put them on lol. I cant decide which look I like better. If I find we start using the bow to load on and off then I will definitely put them on but I don't see that happening.

I have noticed the front of the Makai actually has several surface changes that the light, and shiny finish, seems to play with in photos. Funny you mentioned the center Gatorstep. When I first saw it in mine, I thought it would have made more sense to put it in the center and leave the two smaller sections next to it open. From a practical boarding standpoint anyway.

Had the same dilemma. Ended up above the rub rail behind the cleat. A little further back than normal but I like how it turned out.

That's a more balanced place under the side glass, but is that "legal" per the placement instructions they send with the registration? I would hope DNR would not have an issue, but sometimes they can be particular.

I did look them up before doing it. I want to say for Texas it said something like front half of the boat as the only requirement and it definitely meets that. Have had them for a full year now with no issues so far.

The smaller pvc are just some home made guide posts and the larger pvc covers the chain that is attached to my cable. The guide posts are actually galvanized pipe with a fitting that I attached to the lift frame with pvc over the top.

A little nerve racking drilling the holes but otherwise a really simple install. I have three on each side of the boat. They are the phender pro system that you can get on Supra’s.
